Why is there so much demand for a government job compared to a private job?

WHEN I was around 21 years old and after completing my MBA I was looking for a job. While preparing for various Banks exams, I landed a job at a well-known multinational tea company. I joined and started working and was in a sales job, going from store to store and hotel to hotel to sell powdered tea and powdered coffee with the help of a couple of salespeople.

I joined and started working and was in a sales job, going from store to store and hotel to hotel to sell powdered tea and powdered coffee with the help of a couple of salespeople.

My grandfather didn't like it and felt that I was doing a menial job after attending college. One day, when I went to my place of origin, he called me and asked me to quit my job. He insisted that he should get a job in the government at least as an income inspector or inspector in the local municipality. He even told me that no one would marry me if I work in a private company and that's also selling tea. This was during the year 1965.

Even now, in the year 2020, some of that stigma remains in the minds of the elderly who encourage their children to enter government service. The elderly condition the minds of their sons and daughters from childhood and prepare them to secure government jobs. Some people feel that there is prestige in government positions and others feel that there is less work to be done. Both are wrong fallacies. Any work that grants dignity and soul must be good.

To conclude, I believe that the preference for government work over private is due only to social compulsions and such a pseudo preference is changing rapidly with the current generation being more inclined towards challenging jobs, wherever they may be found.

Security = Ever heard that private jobs will take care of you even when you are not working or if you are dying. No right? This is exactly what government work does. You will be paid even if you are absent a lot, even your family members will continue to receive pensions after your death

Feeling relieved that you don't learn new skills at 50 = It doesn't matter if you are 50 or 60, doing a job in a private company will require new skills. It means that you have to keep learning all the time. In government work, you don't have to learn any new skills in your 50s to earn money or survive on the job.

Patriarchy = This is especially for men. They are taught with the idea that without any government jobs, they will not get decent women for marriage. Almost 85% of men apply for a government job so they can get any woman they want (not entirely true these days, but it does exist).

Pushing society = letting them write on social media that "We respect people for their behavior and not for their job or profession", but in reality all they know is to respect a government employee and not other people from different job backgrounds or professions. . I'm a UI designer by profession, but the society I live in doesn't even know what UI design is 😂. People will always respect a naive government pawn more than a private employee with a 1cr per year package. Because they don't know how to value other people.
