Which is better for long-term professional growth, SBI PO or SSC CGL? What is work-life balance?

CGL Group B positions are better as it provides the opportunity to become an 'A' class officer after 20 years.

IRS officer, undersecretary, etc.

These posts have a lot of power along with social respect.

What is work-life balance like at SBI PO?

I am sharing my previous answer to the next question, which is pretty close to this question.

What are the bitter truth about SBI PO's work?

There are many pros and cons associated with this word. I joined as a probationer in 2011. I assure you, this is the best label (being a probation Officer) that you can have in the banking industry in general and SBI in particular. Each PO has to go through intensive training for the first 2 years. During these two years, we assume to know a wide range of banking aspects from credit to deposit, from manual records to the most advanced technologies.

During these two years, we assume to know a wide range of banking aspects from credit to deposit, from manual records to the most advanced technology in banking, from government business to forex, etc.

Actually, these two years are like a honeymoon period for everyone on probation, as they are less skilled for every job they do, because they are on probation or training. During these two years you will receive institutional training in Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, etc. Everyone treats you like a special species, you are considered the most talented person (in fact you are, considering the level of competence for the PO job).

The bitter part of the story begins with the end of your trial period. You are no longer in training now, you are assigned a branch manager position (if it is a small branch) or a loan officer in a large branch. As you have joined as PO, everyone around you, your senior, your junior, thinks you know everything, every instruction, every circular guideline issued by the Bank, the RBI, the Ministry of Finance and the list goes on ... world thinks he is from Jupiter, a superhuman who can solve any banking problem. You are no longer enjoying the benefits you had during your trial period. You are now a generalist, like any other officer, whether you joined the bank as an officer or were promoted from an administrative cadre.

As a banker, in addition to banking, you must carry out the following activity: life insurance cross-selling, general insurance, mutual funds, credit cards, Demat accounts, Fasal Bima… There are many, but I stop here. distribution, and so on …… If you compare yourself with other Government Department personnel, you will end up in a sorry state. This job is no longer lucrative compared to other central government jobs.

Actually, this is my story, which I think is the story of everyone on parole. But sometimes we ourselves are responsible for our adversaries. This is the case in today's banking industry. There are many who destroy the culture of an organization by staying late (not working), working during vacations, etc.

We have to balance our personal and professional life in our own interest and those who can achieve this are happy creatures on bank break are Bhagwan Bharose….

That's it for this banker.

Enjoy life to it's fullest ...
