What would the salary of a senior section engineer at Indian Railways be after 5 years of service?

The senior section engineer in Indian railways gets a level 7 pay scale, the stages of which are as follows

• Initial basic payment …… Rs.44900.

• At the end of the 1st year… Rs.46200.

• At the end of the second year… Rs.47600.

• At the end of the 3rd year… Rs.49000.

• At the end of the fourth year… Rs.50500.

• At the end of the fifth year… Rs.52000.

This Rs. 52000 / will be Basic Payment after 5 years.

Now, what will the DA be after 5 years. It is 9% as of July 1, 2018. Suppose it will increase at the same rate of 2% every January and July. So it will be 29% on July 1, 2023.

HRA will remain unchanged. This is

8% for Z-class cities.

16% for Y-class cities.

24% for class X cities.

The basic transportation allowance will remain unchanged, but since it is tied to DA, it will be

1800 + 29% = 1800 + 522 = 2322 rupees /

Now let's add all the profits

• Basic payment ……… Rs. 52000.

• DA 29% ……… .Rs. 15080.

• HRA 8% ……… .. Rs. 4160. (class Z)

• Permitted Transportation… Rs.2322.

• Total …………… Rs. 73562.

Deductions

• NPS (New Pension Scheme) 10% of basic salary ……… Rs. 5200.

• Group insurance …… Rs. 30.

• Total deductions …… Rs. 5230.

• Net salary available …… Rs. (73562 minus 5230) = Rs. 68332 / =

Note:-

1) If it's posted in class Y or X cities, add HRA to that rate.

2) SSEs, who have to leave the central station, will receive Travel Allowance / Daily Allowance.

3) The subsidy for night service will be paid, if you work the night shift.

It is one of the coveted positions that is filled through the Railway Contracting Board. The Board conducts exams every other year and there is stiff competition to become a Senior Section Engineer.

The job demands high levels of managerial and technical skill. About 50 to 60 staff members will work under your direct control, and these staff will include junior engineers, master craftsmen, technicians, and assistants.

It cannot be called a supervisory position, but it can be called a junior officer level position, because it has all the powers and advantages that an unofficial officer gets in other government departments like audit, post office or customs.

In the mechanical flow, your initial publication will be in maintenance of trains and wagons if it is destined in warehouses, or it will be assigned as responsible for any section if it is destined in production units. You have a lot of power. You will be a reporting officer for almost 50 to 60 employees. You have the power to sanction leave for these staff members. And you can use 1 or 2 of the helpers who work under you for your household needs.

The work hours of a mechanic SSE are very flexible. Being in charge based on management skills, you can skip the office for 1 or 2 days without being absent. As you manage your own permit record, you can update it once you return to the office. All you should have is good terms with your superior officer and good dealings with those who work below you.

The nature of the job of an SSE in mechanics is to ensure the cleanliness and safety amenities of coaches and wagons during the initial years of publication. You need to make sure your technicians and helpers are doing their jobs correctly. After the first few years, you will be published as the person in charge of any section. Within the mechanics department there are as many sections as Sleeping bag, OBHS, Reception, Dispatch, Contracts, etc.

With the Modi government in power, as each job is given to private players through contracts, an ESS will be able to earn extra money if they wish. An SSE is the one who has to approve the work done by the contractor. To get a signature on the paper, the contractor will be ready to do anything. Normal practice is to give 10% of the contract value to SSE. Suppose the contract is 10 lakh, you will get 1 lakh. You can take it. Or be a good boy and reject him.

The degree salary of an SSE is 4600. This means that your starting salary will be around 60,000 rupees per month. Besides that, everything is free for you. You can easily save 50,000 of that salary. You and your family can travel for free in first class coaches throughout the Indian Railway. That means second AC coaches. You and your family will receive free medical check-ups and treatment at multi-specialty rail hospitals and the facility is not available; you can receive treatment at any other multi-specialty hospital and submit the bill to claim the money. In addition, the railways will award many other allowances such as annual bonuses, luggage allowances, clothing allowances, etc.

You will also get a 3BHK train room for the stay. And these are well maintained.

Above all, it is a very elegant job with very little stress and you can enjoy your family life like heaven.

Since pay band and grade pay used to exist in 6th CPC salary calculations and are removed in 7th CPC, the calculations are for 6th CPC only.

The calculation is as follows:

PB-II is Pay Band II, which is in the range 9300-34800.

GP is Grade Pay, which is 4600.

Salary calculation:

  1. Pay in Pay Band = 12540 (for 4600 GP new hires)
  2. Grade pay = 4600
  3. Basic pay = Pay band pay + Grade pay = 12540 + 4600 = 17140
  4. HRA (Home Rent Allowance): 30%, 20% or 10% of the base payment for cities X, Y or Z.

X means major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Bengaluru, etc. And it means Tier II cities like Agra, Bhu

  4. HRA (Home Rent Allowance): 30%, 20% or 10% of the base payment for cities X, Y or Z.

X means major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Bengaluru, etc. And it means Tier II cities like Agra, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Jamshedpur, etc. and Z means all other cities / towns in India.

4. The government declares / specifies the DA (high cost allowance) from time to time, and it usually ranges from 2% to 150%. The last DA in the 6th CPC was 136% (may not be exact) of base salary.

5. Deductions include NPS contribution (10% of basic + DA), income tax deduction (10% or more as applicable), professional tax (200 rupees, if gross salary is less than 25,000 rupees, this tax is 125 rupees).

Then,

Basic = 17140

DA = 23310

HRA = 3428 (20% assuming a Tier II city for calculation purposes)

Gross = Basic + DA + HRA = 43,878 / -

Deductions = 4045 (NPS) + 1714 (IT) + 200 (PT)

Net Pay = Gross Salary - Deduction = 43878–5959 = Rs. 37,919 / -

But, after the 7th CPC implementation, a pay matrix is used to calculate the basic pay.

So the new base salary of those on PB-II, GP-4600 is Rs. 44,900 / -. And currently the DA is at 4%, HRA is expected to be in the pattern 8%, 16%, 24%.

The training period for SSE is around 1 to 1.5 years for the different departments and during that period the apprentices or SSE apprentices receive a stipend which is only Basic + DA. So the trainees will get around Rs. 46,696 / - (DA @ 4%).

The index in the pay matrix here indicates an increase each year that can be chosen either on January 1 or July.

It is worth mentioning that SSE (Senior Section Engineer) at Indian Railways is a Group-'C 'position. It is usually misinterpreted as a group 'B' post when viewing your qualification payment. Another thing is, to be frank, it's not an engineering job, I guess it's more of a supervisory type. Anyway, seeing is believing, join to see better and get your perspective.

I hope that helps.

As of now, my knowledge, there is no position called Assistant Executive Engineer in Indian Railways. The name is actually the Assistant Engineer suffix with the related department. As in the mechanical department AME (Assistant Mechanical Engineer) AEE (Assistant Electrical Engineer) etc it is the initial officer position in Indian Railway. You can be contacted at this position in two different ways: first through UPSC and second through a departmental exam. First, he is treated as a group A official and in ...

The basic salary is 44900. During the training, the SSE will receive the basic salary plus DA. Therefore, the current stipend will be 46k. It's a stipend, so you don't need to pay taxes. After the training you will receive your salary. Three DA increments in a yearly increment will get you to 50k until you finish your year-long training. 11k is HRA in Class A cities according to the current 7th pay commission report. But it is likely to increase to 13.5k. 3.6k will be TA. So it goes to 64-65k. Now there will be additional technical assistance. On average, let's take between 4 and 5,000. The night service allowance can be 5k. So your first salary is 70 to 75 thousand.

At the time of joining, you will have a base salary of 12,400 plus GP 4600, so your base salary will be 17000. DA at 113% of 17000. HRA of 10 or 20 or 30% of the basic. You will also receive 1600 as a travel allowance. Your job requires frequent, short or long trips. If you go 8 km away from your headquarters for more than 3 hours, you will get TA, which is at the rate of rs520 for 12 hours. You will also receive a night service allowance at $ 350 per night to work from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The trips made by service can be made in 2 AC classes subject to availability of births. In the case of planned last minute trips, even a second class seat cannot be secured. For your personal use, you will get one set of first class passes per year that you can claim on any route by IR. You can officially travel this route once with your dependent parents or spouse and children subject to a maximum of 4 people. The number of passes will increase to 3 after 5 years of service. You will also get around 8000rs as an annual bonus. The base salary will increase 3% annually and the DA will be reviewed every 6 months according to WPI. As part of the contributory pension scheme, deductions of around 10% will be made. On average, you will get 40-45k at the time of joining, which will increase around 2000 rs every 6 months under normal conditions. It is a dead end position for graduates who are directly incorporated as Senior Section Engineers.

Khalsis and helper can also become SSE and JE technicians hired through RRB are also eligible to be promoted to this position.

If you are a potential candidate, it is not the best option to choose.

After all, if you need a good work package, the SSE publishing package costs almost 8.5 lakhs per year.

Except it's all frustrating because you will have the 10th SSE Incharge pass when you join and you won't be able to write a letter in English. And you have to call him sir.

The senior engineers of the section are at level 7 of the pay band of the seventh pay commission.

A directly hired ESS has a base salary of 44,900.

DA 17% of basic = 7633

Tpt: 1800/3600 depends on the publication.

Hour: 24/16/8 (X / y / z class cities)%

Travel allowance: 0–15000 depending on the trip.

So if I take the amount on the higher side, the gross salary would be

Max: 44900 + 7633 + 3600 + 10776 + 15000 = 81909

Min: 44900 + 7633 + 1800 + 3568 + 0 = 57901

This is the gross salary, deduction as NPS, the tax is applied.

Note: SSE Direct Recruitment is now disbanded.

JE's next post after the promo is SSE.
There is not much difference in operation. They share the same chair in most cases.
Since JE is a diploma holder position, while SSE is a degree level, there will be a difference in the examination level.

Difference in salary too.

The degree salary is most likely 4600 level 7 for the senior section engineer after 15 years of service.
