Hi guys, I joined IBM GBS Pune on June 29, 2021, and here I give you all the information about IBM provisions. The welcome kit contains only a laptop and a charger (I received the Dell Latitude 5410 home delivery), also IBM has a budget of about 45k INR allocated to each employee for 12 months, through which we can buy things related to work (such as headphones, UPS, mouse, keyboards, etc.). etc.) through the IBM BOND portal, and you can also cover the monthly internet expenses with a maximum of 1500 per month with this budget of 45k INR. I feel like this is all very good.

PS: I recently received a relocation allowance in my second month's salary, although there is no communication.

I feel good about those policies where IBM cares about their employees, be it work-life balance, relocation arrangements, or work-related expenses, the experience will be great ...

You will receive a Lenovo Thinkpad (or maybe a mac if there is a project requirement) along with your charger. That's for now.

IBM would reimburse the WFH setup such as table, chair, headphones, etc. until March 2021, it is now discontinued.

Apart from that, one can claim his internet bills up to rs.1500.

Hello, I also have my incorporation date at the end of June 2021, have you received the link to complete the incorporation forms? If yes, please let me know how many days before the doj you have received the link.

IBM only provides Lenovo ThinkPad Laptop and Charger in their Welcome Kit in India, but by looking at posts from other IBMer countries, they get so many things like Mug, Notepad, Paperweight, T-shirt, Pen.

First of all, if you join IBM in the near future, congratulations! IBM has led the world in technological innovation for more than 100 years and continues to be at the forefront in cutting-edge fields such as quantum computing, HPC accelerators, supercomputing, and cloud technologies. For me, it has been a privilege to have been a part of this incredible story, which appears in part in the blockbuster film, "Hidden Figures" (now showing in a theater near you).

I'm a hiring manager, front-line manager, and development manager at IBM, so that's exactly the type of person I'd work for as a new hire at IBM. In our mandatory induction training as IBM directors, we are told in no uncertain terms that we personally support and care about the well-being of our team members first and foremost. Many of my team members have been with IBM for more than 15 years, and one of my reports has been with IBM for more than 30 years, more than a quarter of the entire history of IBM. I think that reflects very positively on what it's like to work for IBM and for our team.

Anyway, before the first day, if you don't already know, ask your manager about the workplace dress code. If you join a development lab, you rarely see business clothes; But in sales or consulting teams, they are the standard. Regardless of your team's overall dress code, wear a nice shirt or blouse as you will be photographed for your profile, and that photo will stay with you for many, many years, so a nice shirt or blouse will help make your photo in profile be one. you'll be proud, even if you're just wearing jeans! Your first day on the job will require a number of other induction activities, such as ID checks, OHS, and emergency induction and employment documentation, so be sure to bring all documentation requested by HR.

In your first week, you will be issued a laptop and begin your technical induction. I recommend making sure all of your communication channels are set up as early as possible so that you can effectively communicate with your peers and mentors efficiently. You should also prioritize developing your relationships with other team members. Have lunch with them when they go out for lunch, have coffee / tea with them when they have coffee / tea. Team relationships are absolutely critical so that you can enjoy your daily work and have a trusted network to draw on for support early in your career.

As you learn IBM specific knowledge and skills for your role, your managers will assign business priorities to you. “Own” your priorities and communicate both your accomplishments and your challenges to your appropriate manager (s). This can be done in person or by email; but it is best done using IBM's online performance management tool called "Checkpoint," which allows you to set goals and record progress toward them. This is the most effective way to demonstrate your ability to work with initiative and move toward your goals; and this record can be used for performance evaluation as well as for award purposes.

Above all, act with integrity at all times. All of IBM's business is built on a foundation of integrity, and one of our three core "Principles" is "Trust and Accountability in All Things." In my time at IBM, I have seen this principle endorsed by everyone in my organization; and that is why, above all else, I am proud to say "I am an IBMer".

Good luck with your new role; I hope you are proud to be a part of IBM and that you also make your organization proud of its work.

These are my personal opinions and are not made on behalf of IBM in an official capacity.

I currently work at IBM GBS. Before this I was at CTS, which is one of the good companies that I would like to work for again.

Here are some pros and cons of the experience I had.

  1. IBM Openly offers work from home, while it is dependent on the administrator and administrator / client in CTS.
  2. Pay and benefits: I heard many people say that IBM does not pay more than a peanut, it is true to some extent. You get paid better when you join, with no benefits or walks later. I don't understand how they expect the people who get the best qualification to work without any benefit. CTS, on the other hand, is so much better - you get hikes and a nice bonus every year depending on

CTS, on the other hand, is much better - you get raises and a nice bonus every year based on your rating and the performance of the companies.
  3. On site: IBM - not that easy and in some cases not possible at all. Why not?? They say that IBM is very widespread, why do we have to send it? Instead, we can hire resources on the site. - thinking from the perspective of the company, this is also correct. CTS, on the other hand, offers you on-site services if you are talented enough and have a good relationship with the client and management.
  4. Work-Life Balance - Whatever the organization, you're always screwed at any time. Then no comments
  5. Working hours: IBM is much more flexible, CTS has started tracking the number of employee working hours and made 9 hours mandatory.
  6. Training and Certification: Both provide good external training for experienced individuals and certification sponsorship / reimbursement is available.

Edit1: Writing after arriving in US on H1B after 3 months.

  1. The work in the place is really horrible, the peanut pays expect a job equivalent to the water melon. The good thing is that you can claim the mobile bill, the internet bill every month.
  2. Insurance: In 2017, the insurance policy changed and many IBM employees seem unhappy about it.

Edition 2:

Employee frustration continues and comments continue to increase by the day about the current insurance policy in India. This definitely adds to the employee dissatisfaction factor.

As I worked for more than 4 years at IBM GBS and, moreover, I went through all the HR policies and other benefits policies well. I can provide the details on the benefits provided to IBM GBS (Global Business Solutions) employees.

I joined IBM as new and my place of incorporation was CHENNAI. I moved from Mysore to Chennai and IBM reimbursed the following:

  1. Travel expenses from Mysore to Chennai.
  2. Local travel expenses for the first 21 days in Chennai
  3. Meal expenses for the first 14 days in Chennai
  4. Hotel expenses for a week in Chennai

I was part of the training program for a period of 50 days in Chennai. IBM invests a great deal and provides quality training to employees. They provided around 15 to 20 technical and communication books to study.

After completing my training, I was transferred to Bangalore to post a job and all the expenses mentioned above were reimbursed for the transfer from Chennai to Bangalore.

In addition to travel benefits, IBM also offers:

  1. Benefits that employees like the most and is WFH (Work From Home)
  2. IBM provides health insurance to employees (you can claim doctor fee, also diagnosis, i.e. no hospitalization)
  3. IBM provides a shift claim of Rs 250 for the second shift and Rs 400 / - for the night shift along with transportation
  4. Free taxi for women (also in general shift)
  5. IBM HR says we never know how many days we can get sick in a year and provides UNLIMITED SICK LEAVES.

In addition to this, IBM also has WORK Referral Bonus, IBM Club, special offers and discounts for IBM members on purchases they have been tagged with. IBM also runs events and other programs to empower employees.

MISSING IBM AND ALL THE BEST WHO HAVE JOINED IBM !!!

ALL THE BEST!!!

Appreciate your votes in favor, if the information is useful.

When I worked there (on the consulting side of the house), everyone had a Thinkpad and that's all I saw during the 16 years I worked there. In recent months, IBM's recent collaboration with Apple has resulted in Macbooks being added as an option.

I was in an IBM session (as a customer now) last week and one of the three IBM members had a Macbook. I ran into a former coworker and she was stopping by the office to update her laptop and it was going to be a Macbook, so there seems to be a turn in the tide.

I was in an IBM session (as a customer now) last week and one of the three IBM members had a Macbook. I ran into a former coworker and she was stopping by the office to update her laptop and it was going to be a Macbook, so there seems to be a turn in the tide.

However, if I were still working at IBM, I think I would personally wait until my next update to get one, as my suspicion is that IBM still has many applications that would work better in a Windows / DOS-like environment. I don't recall EVER working at a client site (mostly corporate or government) where they used Macs, so there's a good chance there are software issues as well. I appreciate that you can run Windows virtually on a Mac, but it still takes some time to set it up and get everything working. When you're on site and charging IBM fees, you can't waste your time or the customer's time wasting time trying to get your laptop to work with your software.

Another reason you'd expect is that IBM has made it an art when it comes to configuring and supporting Thinkpad users. IBM users have full administrator-level access to Windows, so there was freedom to do whatever it takes to get the job done. If my machine was out of order for any reason, my local administration contact person could give me his replacement laptop while mine was being imaged / replaced (usually within 24 hours) and I could quickly reinstall an amazing one. number of software tools from any IBM Intranet connection. I suppose the Macintosh equivalent of this support capability is much less mature. As a consultant,

Not everything is so rosy.

So you need to understand two things about the top two countries.

USA - Previously, it was like a candidate getting a nomination to fill out the H1-B visa form. IBM will fill out the form and submit it and if the candidate ends up winning the lottery, good for the candidate. Basically, you can go to work in another country and earn the minimum wage possible. Recent news tells us that if some new rules / laws are enacted under Trump's presidency, people already in place 'may' have to go back and people who are in a much higher administration (e.g. more than 7 years of experience) can still have the chan

Recent news tells us that if some new rules / laws are enacted under the Trump presidency, the people already in place 'may' have to go back and the people who are in a much higher administration (say, more than 7 years of experience) may still have the opportunity. This is due to the minimum wage that a candidate must have.

Take the case of UK, the project I work on, previously UK used to allow associate systems engineer (freshest position) for 6 months (or short term visa). After Brexit, they do not allow it, because again the minimum wage that a candidate must have.

Now, I'm not saying they're not on-site opportunities at IBM. As someone said in previous answers, many projects, many countries. And it all comes down to three things: the competence you have + the willingness to work hard + a bit of luck.

Health!

PS: If you are a newbie and think that you should use the "on-site" opportunity as one of the deciding factors to accept the job or not, then I must tell you that IBM is much more than an on-site opportunity. :)

I think I am the right person to answer this question because this incident happened with me. First, all IBM calls every individual it selected. In case you missed a call, please try emailing the recruitment team and try to attend the recruitment from another campus as a backup.

I got IBM GBS placement in January 2019 in college campus recruitment after they did some formalities like background check we have to upload our documents to IBM candidate portal.

In mid-June I received a call related to my HR onboarding, but I didn't realize this because it was an unexpected call, unfortunately I missed the call.

In mid-June I received a call related to my HR onboarding, but I didn't realize this because it was an unexpected call, unfortunately I missed the call. Later my friends who selected at IBM told me that the call was from IBM. They joined in a week and then I tried to call back, but they weren't available. I found some IBM profiles on Linkedin and argued with this incident but nothing happened.

After a few months passed, in November 2019 I got a call from them again and this time I got a call and then I joined within 15 days, but make sure I don't miss the call again.

All the best for you.

Believe me, the quality of all the training courses is excellent. In 6 months of training, you will learn how these gigantic software solutions work. In a way, you will study a lot of new and interesting things during the training period.
But sadly, the conditions are not the same after training. After learning so many good technologies, you may be sent to a support project for any other technology that you haven't learned.

Whereas, at IBM, you won't get this kind of training. You will learn new things only from experience. The salary increase is the same in both companies. But yeah, I think the opportunities on the site are more at IBM.
But there is something called market value that is very important to your career. Both have good market value, but IBM has more market value than Infosys.
And as questions about career growth, then it totally depends on yourself. Only you and your hard work decide your career growth.
Dear Friend: Choose wisely because it's about your career, it's about your future.
Best of luck...!!!!
