The rest of the aircraft will be developed by the manufacturers, who will hire personnel specialized in Structures, Aerodynamics, Avionics, etc. So you can work in one of these divisions. Once again, CFD specialists perform computational work while experimentalists do the validation of the wind tunnel. People analyze structures and try to choose a suitable material, which is light and, at the same time, incredibly strong. They will also take care of minimizing vibrations. Speaking of vibrations, there are people who study the noise emitted by an aircraft and try to incorporate design modifications to minimize them. So basically Airbus / Boeing recruit all kinds of engineers.

Consider selling an airplane to a business. For example, consider that Boeing has sold about 787s to Air India. The plane is not meant to fly forever. Needs occasional minor maintenance and sometimes a complete overhaul. These maintenance works will be the responsibility of Air India and not Boeing. Therefore Air India also hires maintenance engineers (this could only be possible if one has done aircraft maintenance engineering or similar). Therefore, engineers can be employed by hundreds of airlines around the world.

Or, if you are really interested and have done a graduate program, there are dedicated institutes in the world that work on problems related to aerospace engineering. Some examples are NAL Bangalore, NLR Netherlands, Von-Karmaan Institute Belgium, GTRE Bangalore and many more. A doctorate can also qualify a teaching or research position at any of the universities.

In addition, there are several small-scale industries that act as contractors for manufacturers. An aerospace engineer can also be employed with any of them.

The positions that I mentioned above only concern Aircraft companies. There is a completely separate spacecraft division that owns similar institutes, research and manufacturing establishments, where engineers are recruited.

In addition to all this, since aerospace engineering is a specialization of mechanical engineering, some mechanical industries are also willing to employ aerospace engineers. Many of my seniors, who are basically aerospace engineers, work with Shell, Siemens, Thales, etc. The automobile industry required aerodynamics. So does the wind energy sector. Several of my elders have also started their own business. So speaking of jobs, there are plenty available. If you can prove your skill, the company will have no problem hiring you.

Many would say that it is incredibly difficult to land a full-time position at any of the companies I mentioned above. Of course it will. After all, we are designing something that was considered impossible about 100 years ago. Therefore, it will be difficult to establish yourself in this field. Aerospace Engineering at LPU is a course that is designed for students who intend to design airplanes, spacecraft, satellites, and missiles. These professionals also design components and sub-assemblies for these ships such as engines, fuselages, wings.

So far the companies that have visited the campus in 2021 are CODE NATION, the highest package offered was 31LPA by Code Nation. Aerospace engineering has the worst placement records. Only 5-10 people got college placements and more than 5 got IT jobs. Highest package offered maybe 7 lacs that I know of. No more than 20 percent obtained internships from the university in the past year.

Aircraft structures and CFDs are the two areas that have a much broader scope because skills in these areas are transferable to other fields of engineering.
