What elements of your work interest you the most and the least?

Being a faculty for students from ca, CMA, CS, the most interesting aspect for me is to make my subject Taxation interesting for students giving reasons for everything.

Most of the time it is said that taxes are part of the law, just give it away for whatever is in a provision. But it's not like that. Our income tax is a very well crafted law. Each provision has a logical reasoning behind it. I am happy to cite those reasons and purposes of the provisions. Encouraging students to ask "why is this so" and then give them a convincing answer is a very satisfying feeling.

I like to be connected with young brains, I like to observe them and their psychology or their thought process, their way of dealing with certain things in certain situations. They are the people who are about to enter their professional life and somehow it gives me an idea of ​​what kind of socio-economic changes we may experience in the near future.

These elements of my work keep me active, energetic, up-to-date and, most of all, I remain a curious student of the subject “life”, which is the most basic state of my real self.

I like the fact that I am helping people to become better people, I like the fact that I also have a lot of free time. I don't like the beauty and political shit that comes with work. I do not like the danger caused by things outside my work. (The Black Lives issue was cited as the reason the inmates started a riot that set 1 1/2 housing units on fire and caused the death of 2 inmates) I don't like having to deal with being called a racist and having I have to worry about lawsuits even though I'm doing everything as fairly and consistently as possible.

I am an architecture student and currently I work as an intern in an office. It is only for 6 months as part of our curriculum and I am almost done.

What I love about my job is that I can design some cool things, like residential buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, schools, clubs, etc. And also designing the details such as railings, facades, ramps, stairs, etc.

What I hate, when the client asks to make changes, there are a lot of efforts that go to waste and sometimes we have to start from scratch.

Try and explore new ideas without taking your old ideas on the road. Stand out to be heard. Never reject ideas just because you don't agree with them. Examine and study the thoughts before putting them aside.

The part I don't like is that you definitely make less money working as a freelancer on average than going to an office every day. The compensation logic for me is that my quality of life, I feel that it is 10 times higher without spending more than an hour a day in the car, an extra hour each day getting ready to go to work, getting ready and "calming down" when I arrive. home at night. At some points in my career, commuting was up to 2 hours a day. That's an incredible amount of time wasted in life, and in general, I was too "tired" by the time I got home at 6:30 PM to want to do anything after dinner.

I also hate the slow process of getting new clients that I now have to do myself. Freelancers have to go through a lot of hurdles in today's virtual world, where I'm now competing against people not just from across town, but from completely different economic regions like India, Pakistan, and Russia. They generally produce 40% less work than Americans because their cost of living is significantly lower. The plight of our economic downturn is that our home workforce is often displaced engineers and highly skilled people, while in emerging programming economies they are the least skilled, experienced, and "software factories." So that's my biggest challenge overall: competing against those odds.

I can depend on new customers looking for app developers to choose the cheapest way possible and I lose 99% of those offers. However, in the second or more project clients who have had some experience, come back for more "qualified" freelancers and understand that they get what they pay for. America has, right now, the largest intellectual glut of underutilized talent sitting in its homes, whether it's underemployed through layoffs, downsizing, or, frankly, your age.

With freelance work and the virtual industry economy happening now, remote working with talented people is really happening every day and I feel like it's on the brink of becoming the "norm" in the next decade. There is a lot to be said for think tanks working in the same room. After 15 years of working p / t and now even outside my home, I can tell you from my IT background that it is silly and it just isn't true. Skype meetings are 20-30 minutes shorter, to the point, no social nonsense and hanging around and the work is more pure in my opinion. I think just 3 or 4 years ago, saying you worked from home had the stigma of "not being good enough" to work in an office or that you don't have a "real" job. I feel from my personal experience now that most people seem to have changed a bit and now say that I am lucky or wish they could work from home. Most of the time they keep telling you that there is nothing they do at work that they cannot do at home with a computer and a printer. The printer part gets me, most can be done with .PDF now anyway, including edits, comments, and signatures. Now I only turn on my printer once a month.

Larger companies are slowly but steadily beginning to capitalize on this notion. Friends who work for high-tech positions (fully managerial with dozens of informant employees) now work from home. This includes Verizon, Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, Northrop-Grumman, and many others. Businesses will experience an ever-decreasing overhead of maintaining large departmental offices that do not interact in favor of home work. I think the biggest barrier is just the '50s mindset of them fearing not knowing how to assess whether an employee is working. Supervisors can no longer walk up and down a line of cubicles. Now it is not based on an hourly "in your seat" approach, it is simply based on results.

Recently, my close friend from a very large law firm had to take a leave of absence of more than a year to help care for her elderly and infirm parents who needed a little help for a few minutes almost every hour of the workday. She finally had to accept that she was not going to change anytime soon (parental needs), so she decided to be brave with her company. They still wanted her back and often said that the department was not doing as well as when she was present, even with a temporary replacement. Then she called her manager and explained her situation, that although working 7 hours a day non-stop is impossible for her, to distribute a day in which she can help her parents, prepare lunch, etc. and during the weekends, you would have no problem putting in your realistic 50 hours a week that you previously worked. All I needed was a printer, a desk, a chair, and a computer with 2 monitors. She said she was willing to take a 10% pay cut and that the company would pay for her home office equipment and supplies. The manager said they would discuss it and within an hour he called back to tell him that they were willing to give it a try for a month as their type of work was actually evaluated based on the "weekly results" anyway, they deliver all the I work on Monday. Friday allowing him the weekend, it really wouldn't affect them. That was almost 8 months ago and they are happy, she is happy and they gave her a 3% raise because they felt guilty that she took a pay cut and is handling more work than ever. The key here is that he works less than the 50 hours he used to, no commuting, and saves a ton on dry cleaning and nice work clothes since he was in the executive office area. So the pay cut wasn't really noticeable for her, so in this case, she's actually gotten through, she's less pressured, takes care of her parents' needs, and is much more relaxed.

In the end, personally, my likes outnumber my dislikes on my 10-1 count. Money is a big problem, of course, but I do what I like and when I want. Freedom like that has its costs, and it usually comes in the form of a regular reliable paycheck amount. I'm working on how to base my projects more efficiently so that they overlap a bit and the paychecks are more consistent with no small gaps.
