If you are interested in research or are considering teaching as a profession, you must take a postgraduate course followed by a doctorate, postdoctoral, etc.

In India, you can take the GATE exams to enroll in the M.Tech and MS programs offered by IIT and IISc. There are also some bonding programs offered jointly by IIT and corporate companies, such as L & T's Build India Scholarship, where L&T will sponsor you for higher education, after which you will be absorbed by that company. Some courses are offered by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in its various units, such as SERC, where you will be given the opportunity to apply for the researcher / scientist position after successfully completing the course.

If you intend to accept a job then you must decide whether to join a private sector, public sector or a PSU (Public Sector Company)

To cool off, the best way to join any private company is through Campus Placements. As it is a Herculean task to look for work without work experience.

Most PSUs, like IOCL, NTPC, are recruiting based on GATE exams, while some companies, like ONGC, test separately.

Even in the government sector, you have many opportunities at the state and central level. Each state conducts its own Public Service Commission Exam for the position of Assistant Engineers. At the central level, you have the Engineering Services Exam of India.

There are some government organizations like ISRO, DAE, DRDO that recruit civil engineering graduates through separate examinations.

Finally, the biggest advantage of going into civil engineering is self-employment. You can gain experience and start your own business when you are technically and financially strong enough.

You have so many options after completing civil engineering. Here is the list: -

Contractor.

After 2-3 years, you can contract the construction of a road, a small bridge, etc. In each contract you can make a profit of 6 to 10%. All construction projects cost between Rs 5-10 crore and 5-10% of that amount is huge. Many contractors earned Rs 1 million on a Rs 10-15 million project.

Design.

The interior design field is in great demand now. It is not the field of civil engineer, but you can go to this field if you prefer an office job.
