What are the career opportunities available after passing CFA level 1?

Congratulations on passing CFA level 1. He has obtained an excellent education.

At the same time, it is not a strong enough credential to get jobs.

In fact, passing all 3 levels of the CFA and earning a statute designation wouldn't automatically get you jobs either.

Many of my friends and I had done the entire CFA program, and not once did employers ask for it, both on and off the job.

I think Mark Hollak's data is actually misleading, because for people to have a CFA designation, you already have to be in finance.

It is part of the strict requirements that you must meet to get CFA in full.

I think Mark Hollak's data is actually misleading, because for people to have a CFA designation, you already have to be in finance.

It is part of the strict requirements that you must meet to get CFA in full.

So obviously, if you collect data based on CFA charter holders, of course the job placement data will look good.

However, you are not in finance yet, so the data is not applicable.

So my 2 cents:

  • If you're going to do CFA further, do it for education and don't expect jobs to come out of it.
  • Understand that if you want the CFA designation, you should have already figured out how to get a finance job without CFA

To get a job in finance, I recommend:

  • focus on networking as much as studying
  • maintain a very high gpa
  • conduct internships strategically

Consult technically with CFA L1 or without L1, you will get an internship / job based on your CV and the work you have done and not just because you have passed L1.

Let's do some math on this.

According to estimates, approximately 25,000 people apply for CFA L1 each year and about 45% remove it. That is around 11,000.

The same people show up for L2 and about 40% delete it. That's 4400 and they show up for L3 and again 40% delete it. That's around 1800. So many people, year after year, become CFAs.

Consider this, most CFAs aspire to work with research (buy side or sell side) and RO type of IB.

Companies on the side of buying mutual funds in India: 42 and each has a maximum of 20 to 25 analysts. That's 1000 people.

India has good 100 Sell Side Brokers or companies with 20-25 at most analysts. There are another 2,500 people.

Good IB companies: 100 more with 15-20 analysts. There are another 2000 people.

The total size of the industry does not exceed 5000 people. Wear is minimal. And 2,000 people each year remove L3. To this, add all the good non-L3 MBAs with 0-2 years of experience. Plus FRM and CA, plus all IIT, NIT college students.

The point I'm making here is that this is a buyer's market. Companies will get people with lower salaries. Probably in the 6 t 10 LPA range. Prepare for interviews and cover it in the first shot. Don't worry about salaries, get exposure. It will be worth gold for sure.

For an internship, the risk is enormous for companies. You cannot ask an intern to choose an action. An intern will not work on live deals. It's kind of a gigantic exercise for a company to hire an intern and make him productive. Don't discourage anyone here, but understand it from a company point of view as well. It should be beneficial to both of you. For that, you must have worked a bit before they look at you. CFA L1 can be an additional advantage, but surely not a turning point or decisive point. So focus on hands-on exposure, live projects with more hands-on learning, and do any courses on that too.

Do everything from where you get it. Live projects, courses, contests, everything that has the opportunity to work in markets and modeling. Don't think about salaries, stipends, or brands. Just take what you can. You will fly, but it sure will take you some time.

I hope I have made my point clear.

Thanks!

The approved CFA level 1 is a good starting point. However, honestly, there is nothing different until you finish all 3 levels. The pass rate for level 1 could be ~ 40% globally.

With CFA in progress, you can primarily apply for the position of Research Analyst. It can give you a slight edge on determination, intellectual power, and self-discipline, but don't rely on that.

A much better way to apply for an investment / research job (with or without the statute) is to demonstrate what you can do in the application package.

You can write an investigation report on an action that you like in short (2 pages) with c

You can write a research report on a stock that you like in short (2 pages) with a clear thesis and investment structure. If you have reasonably good quality, you can beat any professional qualification in a single day.

So you don't need to depend on a qualification for the job you like.

Good luck!

See if you have the talent and ability to work hard. So whatever the level, you will definitely succeed. But if you are talking about… ..CFA Level 1, then you can do: -

1) Equity Research analysis.

2) Asset management.

3) Junior Financial Analyst.

4) Risk consultant.

5) Junior portfolio manager.

6) Associate analyst.

These options involve applying the basic knowledge acquired by applicants while preparing for the CFA Level I Exam. The higher the level, the better the job opportunities and with the best job, the better salary.

Also, many experts suggest that a potential candidate should learn several complementary skills, for example good communication skills. With each passing year, the candidates taking the exam have increased and with the current boom in the economy, there is no shortage of green pastures. You just need to have enough determination to conquer. One last thing to keep in mind is that these job opportunities vary from country to country. Some countries may have a greater availability of jobs and others may not. Even the pay scale varies as you move between various latitudes. But the trick is to keep working hard and achieve what you want.

Thanks…..!

You can get better options now.

Greetings MEET NATHWANI

As before. I don't want to be harsh, but I also don't want you to have unrealistic expectations.

Registering for the level one exam means absolutely nothing more than the fact that you can register for an exam. Even after the exam, there won't be much difference.

What will help you is to reach the people in the industry that you would like to emulate. Meet them for coffee, talk to them, learn from them.

When a job comes up and you meet someone who can affect your hiring decision, you can ask a question. And the reason they will help you is because you

When a job comes up and you meet someone who can affect your hiring decision, you can ask a question. And the reason they will help you is because your actions and your past have shown that you really care to invest for the inherent intellectual challenge or personal satisfaction. If that's not you, rethink the entire program right now, because if you don't LOVE reversing levels two and three will make your life hell.

I wish you the best.

Well actually, what I feel is that CFA is not a college degree from which you can start finding finance related jobs, rather it is more of a plugin. CFA teaches us a more detailed level of financial concepts and investment banking. You may already be working in a sector like IT or have an MBA. When you clear CFA level 1, it means that you have a clearer and more detailed understanding about the financial sector that includes basic concepts and little advance of equity, debt, financial statements, investments, etc.

If you want to get out of your current work experience and move into finance, it would be a bit difficult with just CFA level 1. You may want to think about clearing CFA level 2 as well.

The other aspect is that with the CFA level 1 authorization you can do some finance related activities in your own industry in which you are working. As if you were working in the IT sector as a software developer. I have now risen to techno-functional roles. In our company we work for banks so it helps me to have a better perspective of the work they give us.

I hope this helps

CFA is a course that people of diverse academic backgrounds take, whether financial or non-financial. When it comes to finding job opportunities, the job opportunities present in the market for a person with a financial background would be different from a person with a non-financial background.

A person with a finance background will get options like junior financial analyst, risk consultant, asset manager, associate analyst, junior portfolio manager, and a job in securities research. These options involve applying the basic knowledge acquired by applicants as they prepare.

Since a person with a non-financial background has diversified his knowledge both in the financial field and in an additional field, he has a broader scope by passing the CFA Level 1 exam. For example, a technologist can now move into finance IT roles or investment banking, which were previously not accessible to him. The IT services clerk, after level 1 offsetting, is most valuable in serving financial services clients such as banks, hedge funds, etc.

So after passing CFA level 1, which is basically a financial modeling course, there are a variety of job opportunities. You can be on the buy side or the sell side of the market, if there are vacancies, you may enter good IB firms subject to interview and CV. There is a lot of exposure available as you are only a Level 1 approved candidate and you are still learning that you can participate in company projects and assignments that will help you improve your profile and knowledge base. The salary is probably between 5 and 8 lakh rupees. Profiles can be wealth and fund mana.

In India,

Level I CFA with some experience on the selling side, the buying side or the advisory type of roles will provide you with jobs on the investing side of finance.

CFA Level I with no financial role experience could be just a certificate, similar to what students get in school discussions.

Sorry, but I was being honest.

Well, on the bright side, by completing the CFA level, it would give you more knowledge than the finance folks at MBA, CA (investment related), thus giving you a better insight into the investment industry.

There are more intangible benefits to CFA level I than there are tangible ones.

But if you are credited with experience, all intangible assets will be accounted for as tangible and realizable assets, or as work in simple terms.

Thanks Shashanka for a2a ..

I completely agree with all the answers given above, so there is no use repeating it.

However, the best opportunity for the CFA Level 1 Approved Candidate is @ Futures First.

The advantages of FF: It is a 100% commercial company. Operations in the foreign securities and raw materials market, including derivatives. The scope of profit there is unlimited. Aside from the high base salary, the more money you make for them, the more they will pay you. Believe me, even beginners who have 8L Pa as a base can earn up to 4-5L Pa as a commission.

Disadvantages of FF-
1. Very long working hours. A minimum

2. Strange times adapted to the foreign market.
3. High dropout rate. Either you won't be able to bear the stress or they will kick you out in 1.5-2 years if you don't earn money from them.
4. Hard-to-break interviews. Not in technical terms, but they roast you to the core.

If you're ready to balance the pros and cons, this is the best chance you can get.

It gives you everything, knowledge, experience, money and then parties, meeting places, amenities, luxury :)

Do it ... Do it to FF.
