Is wedding photography dying? What photography jobs pay the most?

However, unless you live in a big city with a high demand or a tourist city where people come to get married… Photography as a profession is often a side job for many and they also have a main job.

With Covid and the weddings postponed, many of them went months out of work.

I take a lot of pictures for others, but weddings are not my thing. I mostly take photos of high school seniors, boudoir, and family members. A lot of the high school seniors I do, I do it for free and I also do it for free with foster kids. I don't have amateur cameras, I have high-end cameras, and I have a professionally lit studio at home. That is mainly for boudoir, others I prefer outside in places for better landscaping.

I put this aside because I like to do it, making money is a bonus. Professionally, I am a network engineer and I do 6 figures with that. The money I earn goes to buy more things for him.

This is petty though ... my niece has a friend that it's all a competition and we're talking about places she went for her senior photos and she always makes sure it's the best. I was planning a trip to Europe for myself as a solo trip, so ... I took her with me and took her senior photos there. His antecedents were the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Tower of London and the Roman Colosseum… go big or go home.

There was never much money in wedding photography, given the enormous amount of time invested, even in the days of the cinema, when a photographer could sell additional prints after the wedding. Today, people trying to make a living as wedding specialists actually lose money every year after all expenses are deducted. They think: "Next year I'll try something different and it will work." They also lose money that year. Some of them may take 10 years or more to realize that they will never pay more than expenses.
