I can go on and repeat the rhetorical argument about how likely you are to have a vastly below-average work-life balance, but as most victims have already mentioned, I'll skip the part.

Let me elaborate, I am a simple man with simple needs that include respect, tranquility and money, and I suppose that everyone wants it and should do it, they were not born to strive in their life and they deserve a better life. I have the same dreams too, and therefore started a tech startup at my university, probably due to my academic arrogance, as I was my university's gold medalist, getting 9.8 CGPA, and I was doing very well, even my university made requests for the developed technologies. For me, I even applied for patents for some of my inventions, but we soon realized the limited economic capacity of what was involved, so I packed my bags and arrived home for almost 6 months without doing anything, I joined the Bank of Baroda as PO.

The experience after joining was not much different than most of the people who have commented here, however one sad day (April 4, 2015), I ran into an accident in the evening while driving home after complete the closing activity of the March quarter, at Around 2:00 am, I had a fractured forelimb and I was hospitalized, 10 days after my admission to the hospital, I was asked to join the branch because I did not have a license available, and since I was a new affiliate, any LOPs on my record were something I couldn't have allowed myself to at the time, I waited for the cast to be finished anyway and then joined the branch.

The head of the branch was so indifferent to my agony that instead of giving me a light task, he assigned me the reception, in an urban branch, where I could not even work properly in the system, much less serve customers. Let me tell you that there are back-end jobs like cleaning, operations, etc. which you can easily do while in such a debilitating condition, but he didn't bother and continued to keep me at the same desk anyway, the incident was something that shook my faith in management, and you can expect the same lack of empathy and basic sense. This is how your elders will be.

As for the behaviors of the juniors, let me tell you that the management cadre are the biggest villains in the banking sector, they hate you because they believe that someone younger to them earns more than they do, and envy becomes real when they continually fail to do so. They go up to the officers' cadre, clerical is a kind of back door entry for them to become officers. So they will do all kinds of 'saas bahu' drama to get you in trouble, they will also be very disrespectful to you and you can't do anything about it as the branch manager is usually a person with RO affiliation or no backbone to handle such a situation, the first guy won't worry, and the second will not dare to reprimand the employee because the employee texts him good morning every day. They hardly care about circulars and customer service and most of the time they are just busy with office politics, and when they get into customer trouble they expect you to be their savior. In one such incident, a cashier at my branch refused to allow the customer to deposit his coins (a bag of 100 10 rupee coins), as the dispute dragged on and the customer stood firm in his position, the cashier wanted to enter, that's why I asked her. She was the basis of her decision, whether it was written in a circular not to accept coins, to this she said: "haan hai na, me dikhaungi, lekin abhi me iska paisa nahi lungi." I replied: "Mrs. aisa koi circular nahi hai, aapko paise jama karne hi padenge" distraught, she finally had to take the coins and was therefore visibly furious for several days. and that is why I avoided any useless intraction or confrontation with her. All this while the manager didn't even bother to leave his cabin. Coming to responses from some outsiders that if you adhere to the circulars and guidelines, there will be no problem. Let me tell you about an incident from my recent post, I was assigned to restructure some loan accounts (an exercise to reorder / reduce the emi) the exercise required the officer to be satisfied with the operation of the company, so I carried out an inspection and found that the companies listed for restructuring did not even exist and even then have been up and running on the books. I raised the alarm, but they asked me to restructure the accounts anyway. I denied and therefore the management called me and asked why I was not complying, I explained my case and again they pressured me to do the same. I just denied it. Outcome: I was transferred to another region almost 300 km away. By the way, this was my sixth transfer in just 6 years.

So, in reality, you don't get respect, no peace of mind, and money is ridiculously tight in the banking sector anyway.

So that's it, I can list more stories, but I guess these snippets of my experience in a nationalized bank could serve as a window for you guys, you only have one life and you certainly deserve better. All the best.

I worked in a reputable public sector bank for 3 years, after which I resigned.

Typically, a young, vibrant guy joins a bank with certain aspirations and understanding of a bank. The same thing happened to me, but I was there as an agricultural field officer.

My experiences were very negative about this job and I will do my best to get a clear picture of a banking job, in order to save an aspiring candidate from embarrassment and harassment.

An officer or civil servant is a person who has a defined skill set to make decisions and use his or her intellect for the betterment of society at large. Get a staff / team to work with to achieve the objectives set by an organization. In a banking job, you are an "officer", like the ones you have in the customer service executive. Obviously you have secretaries and subordinate staff, but your bond is strong and they will not respect you or carry out your instructions. You will not have any power to ask them a question, the management will provoke you to act against them, but when the time comes to take the test, they will also make you pay for it by making you apologize or supporting the workers union, because they themselves do not have balls to remedy what is wrong. The branch guard I joined first, the employees used to call me "beta". I told him that I am not his son and that he would be kind enough to maintain professional decorum. The answer I got was that you are proud and selfish.

Now even the employees will not do any work and may even say no to your work to your face and the management will say that you do that work without help. Turning now to the second part of the agenda, the "objectives". The objectives of a PSB are in bad shape and are reduced between profit and social. Even during the day you don't know what to do because there are multiple calls from various departments regarding different tasks that you end up confused. Therefore, you do not know what you are supposed to do. It is something like that in the morning, the recovery manager of the regional office called you to go to the village to do the recovery and while you were there you received a call to go door to door to ask for your adhar cards (number close to 20000, depending on customer base). Later, You also get a call to visit your loan client for a field visit. And then you go to the branch to appraise loans. By the time it's 6 PM and none of the work is done and the manager is yelling at you.

Governments crying over NPA

But my question is why the NPA goes up. A person always avoids clutter, but a person does not pay back because

  1. He has paid an understated money to get his loan approved, and now he takes it as his "baap ki jageer."
  2. He was harassed at the time of obtaining the loan and is now returning it to his rioters.
  3. In the first place, he was not a person who deserved to get a loan.
  4. He is under the influence of "dalal" or intermediaries.
  5. A political agenda. And there are many more ... My position is that in all cases the culprit is the bank and not the customer. Failure to repay the loan is not a punishable offense and in this case you cannot grab anyone's neck. But the bank allows you to do what is illegal. They want to get NPA back by hook or by crook and sometimes the recovery type often gets in trouble. The question is why there is no strong legal measure that would deter a man from defaulting on a loan.

In simple terms, it is an individual choice whether the person wants to repay the loan or not. The bank has to understand that they should do what they can instead of begging at its door and being humiliated. Therefore, the recovery of the NPA is not something that people will cooperate with you, but it will be your duty, which you can never fully execute, giving the management an opportunity to abuse you, humiliate you and harass him. Ultimately, you become a bastard for people to deposit their luggage with you. And keep in mind that luggage is lethal to your well-being.

The next thing the important bank does is lend. Lending at a PSB is not something you select by judge, but you have to distribute loans for your sick campaigns. Daily. Even if there is no one to borrow from, it is your duty to find a man who is willing to borrow. Hence it is a risky game.

  1. You sacrifice your ethics to "get the job done."
  2. You sacrifice the quality of your business, which costs the business in the long run ”.
  3. Create a mess for your successors.
  4. Encourage lapses in your own system.
  5. You encourage the people above you to impose an incorrect work ethic and thereby demean the good side that got you a job in the first place.

The loan is not a matter of choice, but a whim of management threats, abuses and disturbances.

Sick campaigns

The campaign is something that a bank declares so that a task is carried out as a priority, and it is daily in one or another agenda. Collect door to door adhar cards, gold loans, APY, insurance, recovery, OTS. God, if someone is not willing to buy your product, why force someone? Don't you have respect for yourself?

Emotional People

If you tell management to send you somewhere citing a reason why you can bring in better business or you can make a recovery there, they won't listen to you, why, because they are idiots. Now you go to RM's office and cry with your heart citing a reason why you are depressed or worried, you have a chance. People don't get carried away by logic and they just don't understand it. Emotional people never end up being good entrepreneurs.

Loose moral union

Trust me guys. The Officers Association is the sickest part. If they worked well, the current banking situation would be very different. Nepotism, favoritism and so on. You fuck them, they respect you, you respect them, they fuck you. The equation is simple. Never ever be part of a union, in fact jin workers union, even if you are an officer. You will be in a better place. Many officers are also part of the workers' union.

Complaints

If a customer makes a false complaint, even you are right, these bank wallahs will harass you to make you apologize. It is on a regular basis, 2-3 complaints weekly.

But guys, I would like to point out that bank work is not difficult, and even a child who goes to school can handle it quite well. The point is about the toxic work environment. I once had a verbal discussion with the manager of the branch where I was working and this guy challenges me to complete all the work and then go home. That day I asked the manager to compile the list of tasks for the day and give it to me. He compiled a list of around 23-24 tasks and I completed that job at 12 o'clock. I, of course, was the last to laugh.

To sum up my experience, I would like to use the word mediocre to describe a banking job, be it any position in a bank, even a general manager. They are mediocre people who live mediocre lives. A general manager was on a trip with me, and these were his words.

When I was leaving the bank, in the first place they did not let me, but the third time they accepted my resignations and after a lot of drama they screwed me a lot and then they let me go. But on the day of my relief, the people of the branch are happy that at least someone is going to live and is not a slave of the bank. Bonded labor for two long years has definitely had a huge impact on my health, but I'm still working hard to land in a good place before I'm 30. In fact, all those reviews on the sites about people who curse are not irrational. And people who have never been to a bank claim that "Kaam to sab jagah karna padta hai". "Tum koi anokhey nahi ho". But I know that I am special and that I am not prepared to listen to the shit that people say or give me.

My request to all of you who aspire to enter a bank is, fuck this banking dream. You are better than this. Gives you a job quickly and easily. But don't fall into the trap. 99% of the people I met at the bank, including executives, hate their jobs, but they do it for their families because now they have nowhere to go and are too messy. Nobody is happy. Now if a "why" question comes up, join the bank. To hell with your career, to hell with your personal life, to hell with your health, to hell with your peace of mind. You end up being a slave, having no respect for yourself, just a sarkari seller.

Work hard right now, get good jobs, IAS / PCS / SSC / RBI / NABARD / RESEARCH. Start your business, succeed, everything except a public sector bank ...
