I want to appear in a government job and my age is 35, will I?

I'm not sure. I think the maximum age limit has passed. However, you need to google and do a little research on what jobs are present at your age.

In a GOVERNMENT job

The negative points are:

  1. It takes a very high level of flattery and licking boots for you to grow up in the hierarchy.
  2. Absolutely no responsibility for which absolutely no importance is given to merit and therefore good talent cannot be sustained for long.
  3. Very high regionalism and linguistic bias, especially at higher levels. (My Tamil boss seeks talent only within the Tamil community. He is so shortsighted that he will get work from everyone except reward / reward only Tamils).
  4. Absolutely no recognition and no awards for your hard work and contributions. Cri

The negative points are:

The criteria for deciding awards, and there are many, are anything but contribution and merit. (The day after we did a very good test, for the first time in India, my then boss came to see me and asked me to do his resume so he could apply for a national award. My team and I were left licking our thumbs and virtually surprised)
  5. Due to the prevalence of reserve, a good percentage of non-deserving candidates tend to rise to positions of power.
  6. Corruption is rampant despite very good pay scales. Although, this is drastically decreasing in the era of the new government.
  7. A lot of political pressure and you are never allowed to make independent decisions (whatever your ability). All the older ones try to suppress you.
  8. Most likely, you will develop a health problem in a government job due to unethical and immoral practices.

However, there are also some good points:

  1. In some government jobs you can work directly and contribute to the good of society. Nothing gives you more satisfaction than contributing directly to society and the nation. eg Armed Forces, ISRO, Civil Services, DRDO, etc. The job profile / responsibilities / job description in some government jobs are phenomenal. Nothing in any private industry can match that.
  2. Sky is the limit for you to contribute to your work. There are many opportunities available and generally no one will stop you from taking action. You can work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and serve your country. Job satisfaction is tremendously HIGH. E.g. ISRO, PSU, central universities, etc.
  3. You often work in your own area of expertise, and sometimes the domain of the job is so widespread that professional experience is exceptional.
  4. Usually the funds are readily available for one to fulfill one's duties. Although, most people tend to abuse this advantage. E.g. Central universities, civil services, etc.
  5. The salary scale at the entry and middle level is better than that of the private sector and at the highest levels they are comparable to that of the private sector.
  6. Very lower level of professional stress due to little responsibility.
  7. Personal hobbies and an active social life can be maintained.
  8. Good respect in society and one tends to retire with satisfaction. Disclaimer: I work for the government. The above are my personal experiences. I have some very good experiences and some very very unpleasant experiences working for the government. Believe me, there are good people, regardless of all this, who work for the government and who are actually making the country great.

Issue 1: Government Job is the father of all nepotism. I mean it may be Albert Einstein, but if you can't speak Tamil, your Tamil-speaking boss won't promote you.

You can do this in a government job.

As good as this

The choice is yours….

This really depends on where you live. If you live in the United States, virtually any government job is available to you. The FBI hires special agents until they are 36 1/2 years old at the time of appointment, if you want to run for the FBI, I strongly suggest that you do so as soon as possible. You could run for president in the next election. The minimum age to apply is 35 and to be a citizen of the United States, of course, it would help if you had political / legal or business experience, but stranger things have happened. The minimum age to apply is 35 and to be a citizen of the United States, of course, it would help if you had political / legal or business experience, but stranger things have happened. As far as I know, intelligence agencies do not have an age limit for their jobs (but you must be under 60-65 years old as this mandatory retirement age), so if you want, you can apply for one of those. The biggest piece of advice I could give you if you want a job in the government is to have something they want. You can't just walk down the street and expect to be hired. Look at the critical government needs / skills they're looking for right now, see if you meet the minimum criteria, then apply. Good luck!

When a suitable announcement comes in, you should ask for it. If you are eligible based on the QR (Qualitative Requirements) of the job, you will be called in for an interview. Once you are called in for the interview, you have as much chance of being selected as you are of being rejected. Therefore, you must do well in the interview to be selected.

Once you are selected, your background will be checked through the police. If you have a clean record with no police cases or criminal records, you will get the call for a medical exam.

If you are found medically fit in all respects according to the job requirements, you will receive the letter of appointment from the competent authorities of the Department of the Ministry. This whole process can take a year and a little.

Then you can join the job. You will be on probation for a period of 2 years. All the best. Hari om.
