How long does it take to get an accountant job after receiving a Canadian PR?

You cannot get one, unless you are a member of CPA Canada or CPA in the province of your territory, say CPA Ontario and to do this you may need to take more courses, improve your skills and experience in Canada and take the exam for become a CPA. So even if you get a PR, that does not guarantee that you can be employed as an accountant directly, you must first get experiences as an accounting clerk / finance clerk etc. and a Canadian accounting diploma and CPA membership. A long way to go, but if you have the passion, you can land this position in more than 2-3 years. Good luck

There are many openings for accountants in Canada. If you're lucky, you can get a quick job from the company, which doesn't worry about having local credentials. However, it is highly recommended that you take at least 1 local accounting or bookkeeping course. Your chances of being hired as payable or receivable will double immediately after that.

Between a week and never.

Canada has more than enough qualified Canadians for accounting work.

Foreigners who are not aware of Canadian taxes have a hard time getting a job.

Also keep in mind that the recession has eliminated all kinds of survival jobs that new immigrants used to get while looking for their desired job.

With 4 million Canadians recently unemployed, our job market has changed. We have 13% + unemployment now.

Until it's back below 6%, there won't be much hope that a new PR will thrive.

How quickly you land an accounting job (or any job) depends on a number of factors such as: your qualifications and experience, how many jobs are available, how much effort you put into your job search, and other factors.

Clearing immigration is one of the easiest steps if you want to get to the first world. Gravity applies here too and it can take a couple of odd jobs and around 5 years to call a new home in the country. The Express Entry system was introduced in 2015 by the Trudeau government to encourage fast track immigration. It encourages young people with educational qualifications and good knowledge of English and / or French to become Permanent Residents of Canada.

The Express Entry system is a points-based system that creates a pool of candidates and invites profiles that are above the monthly cutoff score. I will talk about the Federal Skilled Worker scheme that can also be used by Canadian Experience Class. These schemes generally require a higher or university education and a decent command of English and / or French.

Before you start, you can familiarize yourself with this Express Entry.

Broadly speaking, the CRS is based on four things: age, English, education, and experience (AEEE). The best age to apply is between 25 and 32 years old, below or above the single points per year.

You can check your preliminary score using this tool.

For convenience, I am breaking down the process into the following steps:

  1. The first step should be to obtain the educational credential evaluation.
    1. The most common way to do this is by creating an account with the World Education Society.
    2. After creating their account and making the payment, the candidate must request a new set of transcripts (score sheets) for all their educational qualifications (bachelor's, Ph.D., diploma above secondary level) for each course from the respective universities.
    3. The original copy of these documents must be physically mailed to WES in Canada in an envelope sealed by the University itself. In case the University does not provide mailing services, you can take empty envelopes and seal and sign them with the University as the sender and the WES Canada address as the recipient. In no case should you appear to have access to the documents to eliminate the likelihood of fraud.
    4. The evaluation usually takes between 30 and 45 days after receipt of the physical documents.
  2. Book your English / French exam
    1. There are mainly two options available to demonstrate your English ability IELTS (general) and CELPIP. CELPIP does not occur in all countries, therefore IELTS is the popular choice.
    2. The IELTS is conducted by IDP and the British Council. The CIC requires around a Canadian Level Benchmark (CLB) 9 and above for a decent CRS score. So the gold score in IELTS is Listen 8, Read 7, Write 7 and Speak 7. (8,7,7,7). Anything below this can cost you around 50 points on your CRS.
    3. Results usually take around 18 days from the exam and the frequency of the exam depends on the country you are writing from.
    4. If you are fluent in French, you should also consider taking TEF to earn more points in CRS.
  3. Gather your work experience
    1. To prove your work experience, you must identify your National Occupation Code. He has categorized almost every identifiable job available on the market.
    2. The CIC has a maximum of 3 years of international work experience, so any experience that exceeds that carries the same weight. This is useful if you have been working for the same NOC, as each NOC's work experience is counted separately.
    3. If you are an employee, you can collect your payroll (last 6 months), tax returns (last 3 years) and certificate of work experience from each of your employers.
    4. In case you are self-employed, you may need your income tax returns (3 years), balance sheets / profit and loss accounts, certified public accountant, business number registration certificate, letters of reference from your business partners, photographs of your office to justify your work experience.
  4. Organize enough savings
    1. The CIC must be convinced that the candidate will be able to survive after arriving and expects around $ 12,500 CAD in savings.
    2. The CIC requires 6 months of bank statement to verify that the funds belong to the candidate and have not been borrowed.
    3. In case you do not have a good banking history, you can make a fixed deposit in a bank for a fixed term.
  5. Now once you have all the documents in place, the next step is to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) to be assigned an official CRS score.
    1. You can use the GCkey registry to create your profile with CIC.
    2. In this step, you can request the WES file number and the IELTS / CELPIP test result number, but you will not be asked to upload any documents.
    3. This profile can be edited or changed in case you get a better result in English or get another educational qualification.
    4. This profile is valid for one year only and older apps are given priority. You can always delete the profile and create a new one, but never create two profiles for the same candidate.
  6. Waiting for the monthly draws rounds of Express Entry invitations
    1. At the time of writing this article, a good score is above the 440 mark, which means you may need to have a master's level degree / diploma and an IELTS score of 8777.
    2. You can earn extra points by using a provincial nomination program, getting a Canadian job offer, having Canadian siblings / blood relatives, professional qualification certificate, earning a Canadian degree / diploma.
  7. Hopefully, you will receive an invitation to apply
    1. If the CRS drawing falls below your score, you will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada within 48 hours of the drawing. Congratulations, it's a mazel tov moment and you can give yourself a pat on the back for getting there.
    2. This is now official and now you may need to submit all your documents to your profile and you will have to pay the evaluation fee, which is around $ 1200 CAD.
    3. This will be followed by a medical examination and a recent 6-month police clearance certificate that will also need to be presented in addition to the above-mentioned documents.

I hope I was able to put in my two cents and help you understand the process. Vote if you read so far and liked the content. Please read this if you want to have a detailed understanding.

Health.

Finding work in Canada is definitely not child's play and that's also when you don't have the right to legally work in the country. I know many people who have already obtained public relations status in Canada, but still cannot get a job while in their home country.

Well, let's understand how it works. There is no shortage of new immigrants desperately seeking work just to get started and get into the swing of things. At first, they don't even care about survival jobs. So whatever and wherever they get something, they just don't lose it and welcome it with open arms and a smile on their face.

With that being said, there are many employers who feel overwhelmed and reciprocate their intention to have resources for workaholics and hire them to meet the needs of their organization. By doing this they actually reduce the total cost of hiring people from an Outland destination and that is why no one (in most cases or say 99%) wants to play by the Canadian government labor rules and make a extra effort to recruit people on your boards and that too wasting unnecessarily.

Now put yourself in the shoes of an employer and think: if you had to hire 10 people in your own company with the best skills in a global market. Would you prefer people who can physically walk into your office and show their intelligence and can start work immediately without visa complications or a person who is sitting in a far away place with various visa complications to meet?
And keep in mind that all of those things must be properly taken care of by the employer in accordance with their strict labor market regulations.

So be very practical about it and work towards something that makes the most sense. To wrap it all up, of course there are some successful work visa grants, but they are the rarest of feats. If you can make your way to make your way among those lucky few. You can always push yourself and do your best!

Good luck!

One of my documents was not in the prescribed format. I got the relevant document in December 2019 and uploaded it. In a week, I received the application to send the passport to stamp the visa. During the first six months, they will not answer any inquiries about a case because that is the normal processing time. After,

As a recent candidate for the quick entry program, I obtained the equivalent of a 4-year bachelor's degree for my ACCA membership.

I have also heard cases where a 3 year equivalency was granted for ACCA Membership. I guess it depends on how long you become a member. For example, I started ACCA in December 2012 and became a member in January 2016.

So I think this difference in time period was the main reason I was given a 4-year equivalency.

With 60 points it is almost impossible to get an invitation, that too for accountants / auditors.

There is a wave of applicants who have raised the bar to 70 points or more, with 60 points of hope in 2014/15, but not today.
