How do I report fraud to recruitment agencies in India?

How do I report fraud to recruitment agencies in India?

You're right. There are many such fraud recruitment agencies spread across India. For reporting against them,

  1. You will first need to know the office location address and contact numbers, if they are for your office.
  2. If they are operating through news paper advertisements, hand bills, bills taped to bus stops and other similar public places. Click on the photos.
  3. Call the indicated contact No and pose as a potential job applicant for the jobs they are offering. If possible, record the conversation and be sure to write down the name of the recipient of the call and other details.
  4. If that person insists that you visit their office or location, please do so. Be prepared to record conversations there, if possible. In all likelihood, those person (s) will try to lure you in with a very good job related to your qualifications and salary that you wouldn't even dream of. Pose like you've fallen in love with that offer. Ask for details of payment terms, etc. Casually ask how many job applicants have been successfully placed for jobs. If you are lucky you may run with some victims there. Talk to him and get his details and contact numbers.
  5. Search the Net for the complaint forum and other similar sites where victims of such fraud may have posted a case.
  6. Check FB and other social media for information on that or other similar employment scams.

Any other ideas you can think of about it.

Now you are ready with the ammunition necessary for the police to act. (You do not need to carry all of the items listed above with you. Some of them will suffice). Make a written complaint addressed to the Head of the City / Town / Taluka or as the case may be. You can also skip this and be prepared for a one-on-one meeting. Visit and meet that Boss. Explain everything you did and the reasons for suspicion. In all likelihood they will act on your complaint or information. In the event that this fraud is cracked, you may be the star witness to it. If you are not ready to witness, reveal your intention only at the beginning.

I even got a lot of calls that are scams, a lot of consulting firms call you and tell you that we are a company / we will help you get a job, just come and call me before you go for the interview.

If someone calls you and tells you that you have applied for a job for this or that and your CV is shortlisted, please go to the interview, ask for the full job profile, job description, salary, week off, incentives, benefits, etc. Do not go directly to the interview, they will tell you many lies that I have registered to so many people, rest assured that we will be with you until your selection. If you go to an interview, check the address and then get information about it, they are easily available on Glassdoor, check the Google map and then you can decide by reading it whether you want to go or not.

One important thing, please, never write your address on the CV you are sending and do not even send your photo, even if it is for the secretary position or any other, because a fraud thing was played on me.

Now these scam people had learned a new trick when posting ads on Quikr. Like before, they were calling each and everyone from the job portal, they post the job on Quikr and people who want the job apply and know that person will be an easy target.

If you are inexperienced and even they are saying they have a 20k-50k time job to get alerts. You received an SMS or an email about it, then please before calling the web search.

If something happened, write it on the Google map and make a report so that it is also useful for others.

Not all people are fraudulent, but you have to verify with them that whoever calls you first asks themselves and then says your information.

Many jobs that are available in the market are as follows:

Data entry

Telecaller / TeleSales

BPO / ITES

Receptionist / office

Financial advisor / insurance agent

Many other jobs where education is not important.

I hope this will help.

Hello there,

I have quite a different opinion. My two cents:

Aside from optimizing your resume for strong keywords, keeping it up to date for better search performance, setting it up for relevant positions, etc., it feels more like a one-sided conversation. From my own experience and that of my friends, recruiters just send out mass email based on keywords and never respond. Strange! Job portal not proactive about employers' dedication to inquiries? Volume? Well that's the point: keep the connection live in a service industry like 'job consultants', right? Oh by the way, I've been on both sides of the coin. Worse yet, how about a closure? No. Without a clue and the consultation dies a natural death. And sadly, the same consultant is looking for the same position for the same person! So much for a structured database of prospects / applicants. And if I may add, I am talking about over 15 years of experienced roles.

Naukri's purpose has apparently turned out to be more of upselling. I understand that it is an income channel, but due to a concern / query raised to naukri, I receive a call from someone asking me if I need any paid services. And my concern was login issues and an OTP seemingly never reaching my phone! Duh ... so much for the relevant answer! However, I receive calls about paid services quickly. My opinion is simple: if your main business or vision is not fulfilled, then reliance on secondary services fails.

I would not summarize that it does not work because it apparently works for few. But I would ask you not to put all your eggs in one basket and count on it a lot. This is because Naukri may not keep a tab on employer responsiveness listed on their portal! Perhaps the staff who send mass emails and do not respond only have objectives to meet? Say, randomly search for xyz keywords and send 20 such bulk emails and the goal will be met.

Kudos to those who don't fall under the 'quota' / 'target' and genuinely understand the nature of being a recruiter - it's tough, but so are all jobs. Only nature differs.

So check out similar portals like Job Search India | In fact, which one is more of a job aggregator or those recommended by other Quorans below? LinkedIn is another great place.

Naukri has been around for a long time, but the service, I must say, has dwindled as it diversified. So it could be just another place for you.

A girl introduced herself to a SeekCareerz consultant and reported that she is helping for jobs in the Gulf, the Middle East and Malaysia, etc.

She said, my profile matches 6 vacancies and would you be interested? I said 'Yes', then she started to say 1 or 2 job profile description and reported that they would offer a salary package of € 6,500 per month. Here, I received the first blow to instigate my mind as false! since € 6500 a month is a huge amount and that too, he said it is a tax free country like his gulf country. Then I kept listening patiently, she started saying nice things like free car to travel, accommodation, perdiems, etc. Then my intuition of the forgery was reaffirmed. He said that HR from the direct company will contact you and arrange the interviews etc without intermediaries etc.

Finally I got to the real serious note, I would have to pay an amount XXX to support you throughout the hiring process and we will reimburse you once the hiring company provides you with that amount. Immediately, I interrupted him and asked why a candidate should pay the consulting amount. Why don't you get it directly from the organization and then they tell you if I accept the offer and didn't join?

Did I retaliate with a similar question after you received the money and never offered the service? Then he started chattering, we are a reputable organization, etc. Then I said to him: I'm not stupid and I've been in the IT industry for over 10 years and I've been in recruiting so don't fool me ... He got mad and raised his voice and said, we are not fooling the company , etc. So I didn't want to waste my time anymore and I left the phone off.

Later, once I got home from the office, I browsed their website and also Googled. It was confirmed to be a 100% bogus company and then I called Hyderabad cybercrime department from Germany to pass my international call, but what a shame is that the police ask me to come in person :).

I told you, I am not in the country (NRI) and I cannot come in person to file the complaint, but I do not want others to be misled if they were not aware of this, so please take action, but the police informed me . In case of complaint in Germany, the German police will send instructions to the Indian police and then they will take action. I was stumped and lost hope, it won't work.

So spread this article on consumer complaints to raise awareness and at least others will read and understand to be sure.

Guys: keep one thing in mind, no consultancy will seek money from the candidate. Only the organization will pay the recruitment consultancy for its service only after the successful recruitment of the candidate and if they join and complete the trial period, etc. So, don't be fooled and be smart and safe. Good luck.

Why do you guys pay for consultancies where you don't know much about it (you always have to cross-check). Instead, sign up for the job portal (which is completely free) where recruiters like us ... go through resumes and call the shortlist ...

Whenever you pay anywhere, make sure it's reputable. If you go ahead and pay at any job portal for any service ... it's worth it ... they provide you with that kind of service ... Good. you have to learn once don't repeat your mistake .. and don't lose your hope either .. you will get a job soon .. Sign up on the job site as

So never pay money unless up to:

1. You know very well how that agency works.
2. Gather as much information as you can.
3. Once you call the company that the employment agency claims to be your employer.
4. Don't pay half or the full month's salary up front.
5. Always get a receipt for the money you have paid, if you have paid any.
6. Keep a record of all your communications or transactions and documents (such as the receipt and any letters they offer)
7. Type in Google search "..name..of ...... The consultancy is a fraud in .... ...name of the place................". It may show you various complaints on various consumer forums against that particular consultancy.
8. Once, definitely, check the online consumer complaint forum and see if there are any complaints against a particular organization. I'm giving the address of one of those consumer complaint forums here: http://www.consumercourt.in/product-services/125899-chaitanya-group-consultancy-mohali-big-fraud-company.html
9. Look for the help from the police.

All the best !!! I hope you get a job soon

In Australia:

Employment agencies (employment service providers) are generally funded by the Employment Department, as part of the Job Services Australia Network.

Its aim is to support Australian citizens who are experiencing relative difficulties in obtaining and maintaining employment.

They identify what level of support the job seeker will need to help them find work by assessing their case. They then place the job seeker in a "stream" that assigns a certain level of assistance to be provided.

So, in essence, Employment Agencies exist to find work for the unemployed or disadvantaged.

Recruitment agencies, on the other hand, are hired by an employer to hire the best candidate for a specific job.

The employer is their client, so they work in their best interest.

There seems to be a lot of confusion between the two. Employers often get angry at employment agencies for sending candidates who do not have the relevant skills and experience, while candidates often get angry at recruiters for not supporting them in their job search.

By understanding the difference between the two, you increase the likelihood of getting the results you want.

The companies that hire the candidate from recruitment agencies.

It could be a one-time fixed payment if the recruiter provided a candidate for a permanent vacancy.

It could be a flat fee each pay cycle if the recruiter provided a candidate for a short-term contract. Typically, this is the difference between the hourly rate that the company pays the recruiting agency and the hourly rate that the recruiting agency pays the candidate.
