How difficult is it for foreigners to get an entry job in New Zealand?

It's hard enough for Kiwis to land many entry-level jobs in New Zealand these days! We are a nation of 4.5 million people, so the market is not huge to begin with and when we see large immigration, for the size of our population, it becomes extremely difficult. I am 50 years old and making minimum wage and sometimes I only get 24 hours a week, if that's any indication. Unless you are qualified for the wazoo, or have an in-demand skill, life here is very difficult financially.

This depends on the type of entry-level job. If it is an unskilled job chances are very slim your application will be considered. There are enough unskilled jobs for the locals here. Otherwise, workers from neighboring islands can come in and do any seasonal work.

If the entry-level job is in a specialized field like IT, Teaching, Electronics, Engineering, etc., the best way to find out is to go to the Immigration website and find out.

Everyone is treated the same. That is one of the highlights of living in New Zealand.
