As I am doing a masters in VLSI, I am eligible to give the answer, so let's start with your first question: 4 years gap after engineering, it means you were preparing for government jobs or you were preparing for the door, etc. always an opportunity to enter this profession. Suppose you have joined some institute for vlsi training program, but actually your gap will make a problem (not sure about that, just ask any of your friends who did the training), if this plan doesn't work, then there is another way, you have to do a masters in VLSI at any IIT or Top NIT, then

Suppose you have joined some institute for vlsi training program, but actually your gap will make a problem (not sure about that, just ask any of your friends who did the training), if this plan doesn't work, So there is another way, you have a master's degree in VLSI at any IIT or Top NIT, then you can easily enter the VLSI profession. Because at my university, I've seen people have a gap of over 4 years after engineers got an offer from semiconductor companies like the synopsis. And about the second part of your question, you ask yourself directly: Is it good to start your career in physical design? so you must have done some research on the fields of VLSI, I guess, if you have a great interest then definitely go for it, there will be no problem, just ask yourself if you find interest in physical design, just watch NPTEL's video lecture on vlsi physical design If you get bored don't do it, that depends entirely on your friend.

Hello there,

I am typing this response from my phone, just because I feel like it needs guidance.

I've been in this profession for 7 years and let me clear up some of the ambiguities here.

"... After an interval of 4 years"

Well, things can be difficult for you, no doubt about that, but there are suitable platforms and channels that can get you a job. Things may not be as rosy as you would like, but good enough to navigate with hard and smart work. I assume you did your Bachelor's or Master's in the same field.

Your city matters a lot. The opportunities vary enormously between them. Bangalore> Delhi> Hyderabad> Chennai

So, try to maximize your chances by being in the right place.

"Is physical design the best way to start?"

There are no better ways or better jobs, they are just prospects. You need more money, not life, try investment banking. You want a work-life balance, but you don't have the ambition to learn, try working in the government and the list goes on, it depends on your specs.

"Can we get a job easily ..."

No, if you are looking for a decent employer, things are a bit complicated in all fields, but I can assure you that if you are brave and receptive to change, you will be fine.

That is all.
