How can I prepare for a government job after mechanical engineering?

You can try the following government positions.

I tried for the position below and based on that I am writing the answer.

Indian Navy - 2nd Lieutenant, Indian Navy invites a position for the above position through UES - college entrance plan. You must pass the SSB interview to be selected and inducted into the Indian Navy in the fields of logistics, technical education and many more.

Indian Army and Air Force - Similar to the Navy, but positions in the Army or Air Force. Fields similar to those of the marina.

UPSC - civil services. If you exceed this, you will be posted to any of the 17 a or b groups as gaz

UPSC - civil services. If you pass this, you will be assigned to any of the 17 a or b groups as official officers.

GATE - You can test and if you are qualified you can test on any of the PSUs like ONGC, NTPC or metro. (They offer courses at IIT and once you complete them you will be admitted to the metro).

ISRO and BEML: have separate selection process. Written breaks and interview.

IES: Indian Engineering Service, but your level of dedication must be high to pass this exam.

Indian railways, state transportation corporations, state utilities like Tahsildar, sub-collector, revenue dispatch, etc.

But, a main factor that plays an important role is caste. If you are of an advanced caste, then you will have to work hard to get any of the government jobs mentioned above (except in defense, where caste and politics will not be many).

Thanks and all the best.

Follow these steps:
1. Gather a lot of information. Learn how to search for career-oriented websites. Subscribe to never miss new notifications.
2. Prepare for Gate and try to get the highest possible score. This is the gateway to government work in power supply units. Be on the lookout for vacancies.
3. Many government organizations conduct their own reviews. Prepare for them accordingly by reviewing the exam pattern and syllabus.
4. If you want to do non-technical work (not related to any particular flow), you can consider taking exams like SSC, Bank PO, IBPS, etc.

Every year these exams are held and competition increases each year due to the loss of new graduates. So keep in mind that you will have a better chance of qualifying this year than next, provided you have enough time to organize and prepare.

5. Eliminate online distractions.
6. However, set aside time to relax, to do the things you enjoy. Make a plan / routine and stick with it.
7. You can also join a relevant organization or test series for guidance.
8. Choose the best study material.
9. Keep checking your engineering notes / books from where you first studied.
10. Keep the faith. Have confidence in yourself. Avoid judging yourself too harshly. No one arrives before time and more than destiny.

Enjoy and good luck.

For basic mechanical jobs, you need to prepare for GATE, as most PSUs are recruiting through GATE. Many also take their own exams like ISRO, NPCIL, BIS, BARC, RRB, etc. For all of these, if you are in college then study all the subjects from standard textbooks well. Also, thoroughly solve the above questions about GATE and IES about what books are available.

For non-technical jobs, topical issues, GK, aptitude, and reasoning will suffice.

Hope this will help you :)

Here we share the top 5 tips to make your job search less frustrating as you search for your dream mechanical design job:

Keep your resume and cover letter up to date

Identify your skills; Look for positions that really suit you, then start making resumes and cover letters that fit the intersection of both - opportunities and skills. It is essential to stay focused on positions in which you have the necessary skills to be successful, that way you will not waste your valuable time, money and effort.

Email your mechanical design job request

Don't bulk ship, don't make typos, don't forward, and don't forward. Instead, write individual emails when you have time and can focus.

Make sure there are no misspellings in the person's name, that it is spelled correctly, and that your greeting appears professional. The title of your email should include the position you are replying to so that your communication reaches the right person. Please check with the correct cover letter you attached and resume before emailing it.

Follow

This is somewhat complicated, as each company will process the resumes at its own pace. In general, give a week to ten days before picking up the phone and calling. Calling and asking about your application is the optimal way and hopefully it will help you get a chance to speak with the recruiter. If you can't get through to the receptionist, you can try another email. Be persistent but not creepy.

Contact the department

Another possibility is to email the head of the department you want to work with rather than the HR manager. Follow the same guidelines when it comes to email. You can find the address of department heads on LinkedIn and many times when their emails are not mentioned they can be guessed from those with HR.

Request feedback

If you are turned down for a mechanical design job application, if you are asked to wait, or if you get dry answers, you should kindly ask the reason behind. Most likely, the people on the other side are busy being employees. You have to make sure it's not about your app and ask for feedback.

Do not lose hope! Keep your spirits up and multiply your chances. Be positive and have faith in your abilities, be confident and have hope.

I understand your dilemma, I am currently in my senior year with only 4 months left to graduate.

I also have the same questions about whether to teach as a profession or accept a job on the site.

But then I remember how miserable teachers are who don't have any knowledge of the site in teaching because I have first-hand experience with them.

So I decided that I should give at least 2-3 years of site experience or I should explore civil engineering jobs later, after that I would think about whether to join for the masters.

So at least I will be able to deliver some practical knowledge with book theory.

As you may know in our field, one who has experience in the field has more knowledge than book one.

I am not saying, not to pursue the teacher as a professional, but remember that once you are in the academic profession no one counts this experience in the industry.

So please have at least some first-hand experience or field knowledge.

Because my young people always ask where we can apply this and how to apply this technology and every time I don't answer because I don't have a practical exposition until now.

Also the basic fundamentals should be clear if you choose to be a teacher, as you will be enlightening future engineers.

There are very good possibilities for mechanical engineers in the government sector.

There are many ways to enter the government sector as a mechanical engineer. The first is to appear on the GATE / ESE exam.

Once you are qualified with a good enough score, you will enter the main central government departments (such as railways, military engineering services, etc.) or the best power sources (such as BHEL, GAIL, SAIL, ONGC and many more ), it is a fact that you need to be an extraordinary student or you will have to work very hard to become one. Once you are selected, your life will change, raising your standard of living to a much higher level.

The second form is SSC JE, each year SSC conducts a joint exam to take in young engineers in various government departments of the center, this exam consists of Test 1 (type of objective, 200 points in total, 50 to 50 questions of Reasoning and GS along with 100 technical questions) and Test 2 (subjective type, 300 points, all technical questions) there is no interview, the best scorers are absorbed by departments like CPWD, MES, Indian railways, etc.

Another way is, through the state public service commissions (the post of AE and AEE) or the state personnel selection commissions (for the post of JE) generally for the post of JE there is only one interview after the written exam.

And the easiest way to land a government job is to apply for ad hoc engineer jobs in power supply units or other central and state government departments, or to appear in interviews for different power supply units and positions of state government work, these vacancies are usually shown in the career sections. out of the various PSUs, there are over 200 PSUs right now, and many vacancies even go unnoticed even by the major job search engines except the best PSUs, so you have to identify the mechanically based PSUs yourself and check regularly the career section of your relevant USPs. Now you just need to qualify the interview and join the PSU by contract as an engineer,

Duties of mechanical engineers

Mechanical engineers typically do the following:

  • Analyze problems to see how mechanical and thermal devices can help solve a particular problem.
  • Design or redesign mechanical and thermal devices or subsystems, using computer-aided design and analysis.
  • Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose malfunction and recommend solutions.
  • Develop and test prototypes of devices they design.
  • Analyze test results and change design or system as required
  • Monitor the device manufacturing process.

Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest fields of engineering. Mechanical engineers design and supervise the manufacture of many products ranging from medical devices to new batteries. Mechanical engineers design power-generating machines, such as electrical generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines, as well as machines that use energy, such as refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Mechanical engineers design other machines within buildings, such as elevators and escalators. They also design material handling systems such as conveyor systems and automated transfer stations. Like other engineers, mechanical engineers use computers a lot. Mechanical engineers are typically responsible for integrating sensors, controllers, and machinery. Computer technology helps mechanical engineers create and analyze designs, run simulations and test how a machine is likely to work, interact with connected systems, and generate specifications for parts. The outlook for mechanical engineers in general is expected to be good. They will be best for those with training in the latest software tools, particularly for computer simulation and design. These tools allow engineers and designers to take a project from the conceptual phase directly to a finished product, eliminating the need for prototypes. Mechanical engineering students who can learn to create virtual simulations before moving on to the design, build, and test stages may find themselves in high demand from companies because these skills will allow them to shorten product development cycles. The fields, the job prospects that are offered to qualified mechanical engineers are endless and endless. Mechanical engineers must design, test, manufacture, install, operate and maintain a wide range of machines and mechanical systems that are used in countless industries. These professionals can find employment both in government and in private sector companies. Major industries employing mechanical engineers include automobiles, space research, aeronautics, energy, and utilities, air conditioning, biomechanical industry. Other major employers include giant manufacturing plants, air conditioning and refrigeration industry, turbine manufacturing plants, oil and gas exploration and refining industries, and the agricultural sector. In the government sector, Mechanical Engineers can bring their knowledge to various government-run projects in the role of technical experts and consultants. They can also work in private engineering companies that provide technical consulting to government and corporate companies. From my personal experience

1- if you have experience in CS / IT then it is absolutely not possible because there is a very good opportunity in SOFTWARE companies for these branches and your 4 years of knowledge will definitely help you to build your clear path and make things so easy to understand. in the company.

But if you have the dream of serving a government sector, go for it.

3- If you have experience in civil engineering, there is very little chance of getting a job in software companies, so it is better to look for a job in the government.
