Therefore, you must ask yourself how you should be successful or innovative like Steve Jobs.

From a very young age I wanted to be a professional musician. I was able to achieve that goal, so for the moment that is my success and the basis of this answer. These are some of the reasons I feel like I was able to achieve my goals, in order of perceived importance.

Good fortune / God
I would love to be able to say that I did everything myself, and that all the good things that happened to me were the result of my own work. But it just isn't true. There were many times when I was just lucky or just had the right time, by sheer accident / divine intervention. A good example of this was when I was offered my first job as a full-time musician. I won't bore you with the details, but basically all the possible good scenarios were put together for me in the same week. I know there are others who are as hard-working and skilled as I am, who just haven't had any good luck. I am very grateful for the inexplicable good luck in my life.

Focusing on the goal
, I never ever told myself that "I would come back to it later." I didn't wait until I was financially stable, or had more time, or was "ready." I realized that if a career in music was something I really wanted, I would have to start working towards it NOW and ALWAYS. I made a deal with myself: I would do my best to become a musician, and I would not stop walking that path until all possibilities had been exhausted or I had reached the goal.

This does not mean that I locked myself in a practice room for hours on end, or that I spent all my time and money auditioning. I was a lower middle class American ... I had to work for a living. Of course, there were many times that I worked jobs that were unrelated to my goal, and many times that I was unable to take advantage of opportunities due to life circumstances. But whatever happens, I always reserve at least a little time to practice. I never stopped applying for music jobs and concerts. I always tried to save money so that if an opportunity presented itself, I could take advantage of it.

Even when things got very, very difficult, I decided not to give up, because I hadn't tried everything yet.

I work hard.
Speaking of which things get really tough. I worked a lot. I didn't want to be paid check to check. I wanted to be able to travel for auditions or interviews when necessary. To save a little money, I worked a minimum of two jobs from the time I graduated from college onward.

The year before I reached my goal was the hardest. I worked four jobs, 7 days a week, between 12 and 18 hours a day. In addition to working as a slave in jobs that had nothing to do with my goal, I was also auditioning, applying for music jobs, practicing, performing with local community groups, and networking as much as I could. I made time for one goal-related activity per day. It was a huge waste of time, it was exhausting, and it made me question my life choices. Many times, it was almost this guy in the background:


No part of this process was easy. There was never a guarantee that my work would be worth it. I just broke a $$ because I wanted to reach my goal. If I failed, I could at least look back on my effort with pride and satisfaction.

Staying flexible
, I tried to remain open to a variety of possibilities. I didn't want to have to turn down a job related to my goal because I was in another state, involved travel / touring, or had to quit my current job (s). I had to accept that to have the best chance of reaching my goal, I would have to be prepared for sudden and inconvenient changes. I applied for jobs all over the United States. Why limit myself to one state or city just because I found work there? Why say no to a music-related job just because it would be inconvenient to move? He didn't want to be limited by such things. If an opportunity presented itself, I didn't want to find myself making excuses "but I'm not ready" or "but I'm comfortable where I am."

Finding self-love
Confidence was a big problem for me. Many people, including my family, had become very discouraged growing up and discouraged me from pursuing music. I was often told that I was not good enough, that no effort would bring me success, that I was wasting my college education, etc. At the end of the day, I had to realize that this was my choice, my path. and my life. No one else could do this for me. No one would hold my hand during this fight. No one could give me the confidence to try. It would have to come from me, for me.

It took me a long time and a lot of practice to become a "cheerleader" for myself. I had to learn not to belittle myself, to forgive my own mistakes, to give myself permission to try again. I had to learn to accept myself, good and bad. It is not easy and I am still working on it. But having even a little self-love has been a great help in reaching my goal.

Support from others
Of course I would have gotten nowhere without everyone who helped me along the way. My mom, who never gave up on me during her life. My aunt, who let me live with her while she struggled to survive. My dad, who took me to all my auditions and paid for a portion of my education (even though he didn't agree with what he was doing). My stepmother and sisters, who attended my concerts. Anyone who has ever given me a job and a chance to prove myself. Anyone who criticized or belittled me, making me want to prove myself wrong. All of these people and more have played a role in my success. Thanks :)

In short, I set the goal, I kept it, I worked hard, I did the best I could. And luckily, it worked. I'm thankful.

You want it.

It would be great, maybe even fulfill a lifelong dream.

It happens to all of us, and it is surprising how often we are unaware of this internal dispute between our conscious and subconscious minds.

However, once you understand the mechanics of consciousness, you can beat the system at its own game and make amends for your life.

That's how:

1. Let your stamina speak

"People are where they are because that is exactly where they really want to be, whether they admit it or not." -Earl Nightingale

If you want something but are struggling to achieve it, I can almost guarantee that there is something you think you will lose by achieving it.

So ... what is at risk?

Feel the resistance and inertia and ask yourself, "How could achieving this goal be a loss for me?"

Identify the dissenting voice and offer the microphone enthusiastically. Then sit with your eyes and ears wide open for you are on your feet to receive invaluable wisdom.

What is the reason that this inner voice gives for not wanting to achieve this goal?

It could be that under your conscious awareness you believe that if you achieve this goal ...

you will have to consent to your freedom ...

or it will drain your energy ...

or it will upset you in some non-negotiable way ...

or it will have a negative impact on an important relationship ...

or conflict with a deeply ingrained identity ...

Take your journal and take some time to reflect on this.

Your subconscious mind, by the way, is a whopping 97% of your overall mental processing power, compared to your conscious mind, which is only about 3%.

The large difference in horsepower should give you an indication of how difficult it is to achieve a goal when there is subconscious opposition.

If you've tried and tried and still haven't been successful, chances are your subconscious mind is resisting your conscious goal.

Do not get mad ...

2. Excavate Priceless Wisdom

"We can let circumstances rule us, or we can take charge and rule our lives from within." - Count Nightingale

Take a breath and step back. Make a pact to fix this. The sole goal of your subconscious mind is to protect you, not sabotage you (although it might be inadvertently doing that right now).

So what is it? Be relentlessly honest with yourself. Why it is desirable to have what you want and also:

scary?

not well?

somehow unpleasant?

draining?

or a risk?

What's behind your resistance?

Is it an inner voice of unworthiness or shame, a voice of I can't or don't deserve?

Or maybe it's a confused, guilty voice that wavers between should and shouldn't. On some level, you may be convinced that suffering and sacrifice make you a better person ... Or perhaps it is the belief that your prosperity would somehow diminish the prosperity of others.

And, it may not be faulty programming at all. Your subconscious mind could be responding to a deeply ingrained, non-negotiable inner value, soul purpose, or one of your heart's most important desires.

Here's an example of that from my life:

Years ago, I had the goal of increasing my income ...

I wanted more stability and tranquility in my life. I always had a hard time concentrating on money. He was not materialistic and generally preferred not to think about it. But he was exhausted from the stress and struggle of trying to make ends meet.

Increasing my income and focusing on money was what I had to do. He had everything he needed to be successful and yet the years went by and it just wasn't happening.

After a thorough investigation of my subconscious programming, I discovered that my desire for more income was at odds with the hidden belief that having money would make me selfish and indifferent. My subconscious belief was in conflict with how I viewed myself and what I was called to do. From a very young age, I believe it was meant to help alleviate suffering in the world.

It took me a while to dig up this inner conflict and make it conscious. But my subconscious mind had a master program in place where having wealth meant that it would not serve my purpose.

I was subconsciously blocking my own success to avoid becoming an indifferent person and betraying my life mission.

As I became more and more aware of this, I also realized that staying in poverty was not helping me fulfill my mission. In fact, it inhibited my ability to make a difference in the lives of others. Things had gotten so bad that I was in survival mode myself. I was worried about my own survival.

How do we remedy such internal conflict?

3. Harmonize conscious and subconscious goals

Imagine in your mind as if you have already achieved this goal. Imagine doing the things you will be doing when you have reached your goal. ”- Earl Nightingale

Once you have made the unconscious resistance conscious, determine what needs revision.

Do you need to examine the validity of your core beliefs? Using my example above, is it a universal truth that wealth causes people to care only about themselves and their own families?

Sometimes it is true, but certainly not always. To change my subconscious programming around this, I looked for examples of people who have used their money for the good of others. I read their wikipedia pages and article after article about them. I watched documentaries about their lives. That helped. I broadened my perception and changed my belief.

Perhaps, you have really wanted to find the right romantic partner. Let's say that after reading this article and analyzing it, you discovered that a part of you is resisting the relationship, because you believe that being in a committed relationship means that you have to give up your sovereignty. You may not have fully realized it, but giving up your freedom is a deciding factor for you on some level. Question the black and white thinking of your subconscious mind. Is it really impossible to have commitment and sovereignty in a relationship? Look for examples that challenge your belief.

It may also be that you need to re-evaluate your goal completely. Often people base their goals on the goals others have for them or cultural standards rather than what they really want. If your goal is not based on the desire of a true heart, you will lack the intrinsic motivation.

4. Use the system to your advantage

"The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more surely the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will guide us on the path to its realization." -Earl Nightingale

Let's celebrate what our Mamillian brain does well. Automate what is repeated most frequently and what is most emotionally charged. It does this to help us learn quickly, increase efficiency, and avoid danger.

This is a very useful feature when it comes to learning how to drive a car or knowing how to be careful when walking alone down a dark alley at night.

But, when it comes to the wiring of our repeated negative thoughts, our misperceptions, and the negative and defeating stories of those around us, it greatly interferes with our ability to thrive.

Before the age of 6, we were all basically in a trance with no capacity for critical thinking. Our subconscious mind was like a tape recorder, absorbing everything, recording, storing and creating master programs from everything.

Our higher reasoning powers weren't on board yet, so we essentially had no filter for the data entering our childish minds through our environment.

The voices of siblings, parents, caregivers, society, grandparents literally shaped our conscience. Many of their perceptions became our own internalized voices.

These internalized voices often conflicted with each other, adding to the drama and confusion. Furthermore, these internalized voices were often opposed to our own aspirations and dreams.

You are now an adult. You can turn it over now. Know your one true voice and let her be the boss. And as Jen Sincero, author of You're A Badass puts it, crudely but precisely, "Your brain is your bitch."

Use the mechanics of awareness to your advantage. Know that your subconscious mind reads the mental images that are most charged and repeated.

Acknowledge repetitive and frustrating thoughts, feelings, and mental images that don't align with your goals.

Rewrite the script.

Although we often view external limitations as the reason we fail to achieve our goals, most of the time internal limitations are the real culprits.

Aka, you are blocking your own success. But actually, that's better news. This puts you in control. If it's you who does it, you can be the one to stop.

Know the underlying beliefs that are sabotaging your conscious goals. Question what is really true or what is true now. Review your initial schedule.

Then rewrite the new master schedule. Put it in place by continually playing it with excitement. Think and feel a strong, positive emotion about what you want.

Remember: your subconscious mind does not respond to words. Respond to powerful images and emotions. So cheer up for the way you want your life to be. Create a new story for your life.

Once you learn that this is what your mind also responds to, you will realize where your efforts will be most effective. You can work your way toward achieving your most important goals by fostering new subconscious patterns.

Within the technology industry, there is a common notion.

Within the technology industry, there is a common notion.

For an engineer, two products, both with similar components and with similar development strategies, are equivalent.

For a designer, the difference lies in how people use and experience the product. For a designer, those two products are not equivalent if one provides a superior experience.

From the perspective of designers, engineering should serve the design and not the other way around.

Steve Jobs made the difference in creating a technology company in which the relationship between design and engineering struck the right balance. Achieving the highest numerical throughput or the lowest numerical cost of production was not the company's top priority. But the best user experience. And that is something much more difficult to quantify.

Job's role was not that of chief engineer. And not even as a designer. But as a kind of consumer proxy. At most technology companies, quality assurance people are the lowest paid and least respected. At Apple, the QA manager was the one who ran the company and decided whether two years of product development should be scrapped.

Jobs used his taste and sensibilities to shape the products in a completely different way. He cared what the thing looked like. The weight. They shape. Packaging. How it sounded, and then he had the company repeat, correct, and refine the products until they met his expectations.

He was an architect.

It's getting interesting to see how other tech companies, which have firmly put engineering first, continue to make mistakes by putting engineering priorities before user experience.

Sony continues to ship hundreds of half-made, smart products that are often not fit for purpose.
Microsoft is obsessed with adding features to products that overwhelm and baffle most users.
Google repeatedly launches technically successful new services, which users simply reject.

At some point, someone will realize that you shouldn't assume that all builders can become architects.

Jobs stepped down as CEO, that's all.

He has not died or left the company. Right now there is nothing to "hold".

The timing of this undoubtedly well-planned and unsurprising press release is perfect (does anyone honestly believe that both the board and the public found out about Jobs' resignation by "a letter" at the same time? How naive is that!) .

Keynote in September, new iPhone, iCloud, new "Radically-different-Mac" rumor planted just a few days ago (BTW, could anybody answer this, please: What could the "radically different Mac" be about that Apple is allegedly planning to release this year?), Jobs's Biography due for 11/11 (again - what a coincidence!), HiDef iPad in 2012, new campus - everything is on track.

If the stock price should really go down, shareholder mankind is even less smart than I could possibly imagine. Apple is not going to get the slightest scratch from it.

Jobs will hit the stage in September, collect his (well deserved) ovations, thank everyone shortly and then continue with business as usual. And that is what Apple will do too.

Even if there were no health reasons behind his resignation - what better moment in time could Apple have chosen for a new king? And what more could Jobs possibly add to his lifetime achievement? The kingdom is in the most pristine order imaginable and will continue to reign the planet for the next years to come.

And if someday his successors should drive the company against the wall once more, then any fallout of this will be well deserved, too.

And it won't matter.

But it also won't happen. Because people have the ability to learn.

The name Steve Jobs is seen everywhere especially if one is into tech. He was a successful entrepreneur.

And to answer your question, I don't think Steve Jobs's achievements are overstated. Sure, there will always be young entrepreneurs with such a passion for changing the world that they worship people like Steve Jobs and Elon Musk as if they were gods. I wouldn't blame them for the sole reason that I trust they saw the reflection of their hustle in him, hoping to be like him one day. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

They may exaggerate a bit or praise and acclaim their names more than is required.

And to answer your question, I don't think Steve Jobs's achievements are overstated. Sure, there will always be young entrepreneurs with such a passion for changing the world that they worship people like Steve Jobs and Elon Musk as if they were gods. I wouldn't blame them for the sole reason that I trust they saw the reflection of their hustle in him, hoping to be like him one day. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

They may exaggerate a bit or praise and acclaim their names more than is required of them, but that does not mean that Steve Jobs' achievements are entirely exaggerated.

Let's analyze these facts and I will let you judge.

  • First and the most popular: As someone who can not write programming codes, Steve Jobs managed to create a new face in technology with his company, Apple - still a revolution in the modern age.
  • iPod music player: Launching the iPod in 2001. His company, Apple, created not just a device, but a fun, simple, and fashionable way to store thousands of songs that dominated the market.
  • Revolutionalizing the age of computer animation. Job bought Pixar as an unpromising animation studio and turned into a maker of blockbuster movies. Walt Disney later bought Pixar for over $7 billion!
  • i-everything: When it comes to Apple products, Steve Jobs went beyond the extra mile to make them unique with exceptional finishing and touch. It is not every day that you meet someone ready to bring only the best to the market while standing out from the competition.
  • Contagious personality: It isn’t enough that the quality of Apple products is the sole reason they are all a hit. I believe it has something to do with Job’s personality. Because almost all Apple products are a success - phones, Televisions, Monitors, tablets, and even TV Sticks.

He might not be the tech brain behind all those inventions, but he was the real brain behind each and single one of them. That’s what it means to be a GENIUS! His vision and persistence purge ways to make everything possible.

If Steve was alive, I wouldn’t doubt Apple’s success if they decided to venture into the Auto business because there is something about the man and having what he wants even in the face of adversities - he conquers all.

He truly thinks differently and urges others to do the same.

His last (meaningful) words were:

"I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In others’ eyes, my life is an epitome of success. However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to.

“At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and the wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death.”

A humble man that won the hearts of Millions. He died a hero to most, including myself, and a greater part of what was said of him taking into account that he was a man of 160 IQ, is not exaggerated.

Steve Job is one man of a kind.

It wasn't that Steve Jobs treated his employees badly, it was that many of his employees didn't appreciate the big picture. Steve knew what it would take to be successful. Steve knew how much the extra effort would mean for clients. Steve operated by a higher principle which is that the customer comes first, not the company, not the shareholders, not the employees. Working at Apple was an opportunity to make a great sacrifice of time and effort for the greater good. Contrary to intuition, Apple earned more for its shareholders and employees than most other companies by not prioritizing their needs.

4. Gain confidence.

Jobs and Gates get all the press. Yet others do things that are "big" and rarely hit the business pages. From memory, can you name the richest person in Denmark? Jobs and Gates get all the press. However, others do things that are "big" and rarely make it to commercial pages. From memory, can you name the richest person in Denmark? Or the latest Nobel Prize in Medicine? You may remember that Linus Torvalds first wrote the Linux operating system, but who started Red Hat?

There is also the uncomfortable fact that everyone who "makes it big" has a huge amount of luck. There are many more ambitious people than "big" people. The "big" people are just the ones that luck favored. It's known as the "survivor bias": people assume that gaining huge success is due to capability, when in reality it's just that we see the survivors and not the hordes of those who fell off the ladder. Jobs and Gates both came along just as the desktop computer was being developed, so they both had early entry into a relatively untrammeled field. There's a natural tendency to credit their characteristics for their success, but it's mostly luck, after all. Both would have likely been successful at something, but mega-success is mostly luck. For every Jobs or Gates, there are hundreds of hard-working and smart people who will be good at what they do and have great lives, but won't be "big".

You can't dial up mega-success. It happens or it doesn't. The best you can do is strive for success and accept the lucky breaks when they happen.

Always be yourself have faith in yourself don't go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.

Remember if you honestly express yourself in any field you are in then you will be successful :)
