Sure you can, but I suggest you don't rush. There are a few things to keep in mind.

  1. Why do you want to leave TCS? If the answer is more money, I suggest you wait another year and go because companies like TCS (Accenture, Capgemini) do not usually hire experienced professionals with less than 2 years of experience, so you have to opt for a startup or a smaller company. Sure you can, but I suggest you don't rush. There are a few things to keep in mind.

  1. Why do you want to leave TCS? If the answer is more money, I suggest you wait another year and go because companies like TCS (Accenture, Capgemini) do not usually hire experienced professionals with less than 2 years of experience, so you have to opt for a startup or a smaller company. If you don't have quality work, then it's a different story. Improve your skill set and knowledge towards different domains. Try to be a full-stack developer who knows all the components of web / mobile development and then look for jobs, because the intention of leaving is not enough, you need some good skills to be in the market.
  2. Amount of the deposit: Another important aspect. You may hear people say that bail is illegal, that no one can force you to pay, but remember that TCS has a service contract and charges you for the training you provided for the first 2-3 months. If you decide to elope (which you shouldn't), you could be kicked out of NASSCOM, so entering another MNC might be impossible.
  3. Your Skill Set: As I mentioned in my first point, intention is not enough. Do you have any skills that can get you a job in a startup environment (since getting a job in a multinational with 1 year of experience will be difficult)? The point is that most of the development projects in TCS are in .Net and Java, while the startup environment works mainly in Php and Ruby on rails or Django in some cases, so you need to know these technologies first and then You can apply them as you won't be training or KT here as TCS.
  4. Security: Do you have any dependencies? Can you survive without a job for a month or two? These questions are important because, unlike multinational companies, startups pay quite well, but due to the current investment dynamics, they also lay off. Snapdeal, Yepme, Craftsvilla, to name a few. So if the answer to this question is No, I suggest you stay at least one more year.

In the end, I think it is you who can think the best for you. To answer your question in one line: Yes, you can leave TCS in a year for a better job, I left TCS in 6 months and I am very proud of my decision, but as I have mentioned in my previous answers, I do not encourage leaving TCS or any other company just because some things go crazy, think about it and make the decision that you think is right. I left TCS after exactly one year for a Best US Product Based Company But remember, you will have to apply to many companies just to get a short listing and it will take a great deal of time and effort. If you have optimal / sufficient knowledge, as well as work experience, you can try to change. There is nothing wrong with giving interviews. Because they lied to me.

So in the meantime, I was asked to fulfill a 'Support Role' that was no different than an IT Support job. At that point in my career, it didn't seem acceptable to me. The only reason I accepted a transfer was to work in that particular position that I was promised.

I still did it for a few weeks swallowing my pride. When my workstation was fully functional with all the software installed, I asked when it would take over my "real role". To my chagrin, I was told that the client is paying for the position he is currently in and that I will have to continue for a few more months. I was outraged and I felt cheated. I ascended to RMG and HR there too, but it all fell on deaf ears.

Anyway, I was able to play my 'royal role' for only a few months, and I realized that politics on ___ account and the workplace was consuming me. Discrimination, favoritism, gender bias, and closed-mindedness from the people around me became suffocating.

I really loved working with TCS and was privileged to have the opportunity to travel to some countries to work and expand my skill set. It was a good 7 year growth period both personally and professionally, but the sick mentality of few people was consuming my life.

Then I realized that, if I have skills, I prefer to work where people are respected and treated as humans, not as workers and humiliated every other day. Manners matter.

Leaving TCS was the best decision I ever made. Now I work in Australia. I have a good work-life balance and I don't bring work home. People treat me with respect and there are strict policies against misconduct. It's a pretty laid back atmosphere here.

Sea beaches and a breathtaking view ... I can't complain. This is me on a weekend :)
