As a parent, what was your “don't get paid” moment with your babysitter?

As a parent, what was your “don't get paid” moment with your babysitter?

This was actually my mom's “you don't get paid” moment and it happened in 1999. I was only 2 years old when this happened and I don't remember what happened at all, so I'm just counting what my mom told me.

My mom used to be very good friends with this lady (we'll call her Velma) who took care of me while my mom was at work. Velma had a 3 year old son (we'll call him Andrew) who she used to play with while she took care of me. Andrew was generally very well behaved and didn't mind sharing his toys with me.

Velma had a 3 year old son (we'll call him Andrew) who she used to play with while she took care of me. Andrew was generally very well behaved and didn't mind sharing his toys with me.

One day, for unknown reasons, Andrew cornered me and started biting my face and even bit the top of my right ear. He bit me so hard that I started bruising just seconds after he let go of the skin. I had tooth-like bruises all over my cheeks, nose, and the top of my right ear was swollen and red.

Velma, who heard me scream, pushed Andrew away from me, but refused to contact my mother at work and to be honest about what happened, so my mother had to find out when she came to get me at the end of the day.

My mom picked me up and immediately noticed the bruises on my face and my swollen right ear and was on Velma's face in no time, demanding to know what happened.

Velma told her that Andrew had bitten me, but she defended Andrew's actions by telling my mom that “I was just playing” and “didn't mean to”.

My mom yelled at her to look at the bruises on my face and that there was nothing “fun” about bruising someone, adding that Velma needed to start teaching her son about the importance of being nice to other kids and keeping their hands off . from them.

Needless to say, Velma was never paid that day and not only did she lose her babysitting privileges, but she also lost a friend.

Actually, I was the child who was being cared for. When I was three years old, my mother made her cousin's son take care of me. I don't remember her at all. Usually he hired her while she was still at home. He worked from home most of the time and sometimes had to be on conference calls, which would have been difficult to do with a crying child in the background.

This particular day Mom took a conference call on the third floor after placing me and my babysitter / relative in the basement to play as usual (it was a tall but narrow place so there were a lot of floors but not a lot of space on none of the floors for games and

After her two and a half hour conference call, she comes to pick us up to pay the babysitter and offer her a ride home. Nanny is nowhere to be found. I'm still alone in the basement with the door closed.

Basically, at some point, although we don't know exactly when, he had just left. She didn't come back and when my mom contacted her cousin for answers, her cousin said that she (her daughter / my babysitter) had to go because she had an emergency and she swears she told her.

But this was before cell phones (or we didn't have one), so it wasn't like she could have texted him. She had not received an email. I mean, maybe the babysitter called when she was coming out of the front door and she had to go, but ... I really don't know.

And then he said he wanted to get paid and left at a particular time, but the time he claimed to have left was after the conference call ended, so it couldn't have been when he left.

They didn't pay her and my mom didn't ask her to babysit again. And that's probably a good thing because she started getting into trouble quite regularly (drinking alcohol, spending the night out with her boyfriend, dropping out of school, etc.).

Years later, at a family reunion (like when I was 20 years old), she admitted that she had actually received a call from her boyfriend asking her out and that's why she left. He says he doesn't know when he left because he can't remember and insists that he told my mom before he left.

When my children were very young, they had maybe two babysitters. My grandmother insisted that I see them. He would intentionally make sure he had to do it by taking the kids on Sunday night. Anyway, this is why it exploded ... and I listened.

I interviewed a babysitter and she called herself a babysitter. She was a woman over 50 years old. I walked in and she was on the phone drinking soda and smoking. He said the kids were in the back. In other words, she hadn't checked them and didn't know anything. They paid her and fired her.

THEN the 16-year-old dream babysitter who loved bubblegum.

THEN the 16-year-old dream babysitter who loved bubblegum. She was hitting when I interviewed her. I called all of your references. It had a great reference page. And he left my baby, 12 weeks old, in diapers, that is, one for the whole day; received a bottle of formula in 9 hours. My grandmother was with me when we got home. Shit hit the fan. She was NOT paid that day, and my grandmother called her mother. They told me how irresponsible I was to hire someone 16. ok

From that moment on I was not trusted to hire anyone. Believe me, I knew I was wrong. You should check not only references, but also a full statewide police report and state patrol reports; they have access to many states. It is worth the money, it is not expensive and it is worth it.

SO YES, not only was I tempted, I did it once. If I had to do it again, I would have been a lot more careful, but it was summer and everyone was on vacation. I was a very young mom.

So he fires the babysitter and withholds the payment.

It was a child care facility. My oldest son was getting ready to start kindergarten and I was having trouble getting him into a routine, so I put him in a part-time center to get him used to being in a school setting. On the fourth day of his second week, I came to pick him up, he had blood under his nose from a nosebleed and he was crying. She had been crying so much that her eyes were nearly closed from swelling. I still didn't say anything, I just took him to the car where my sister-in-law and 2 other children were waiting. Once there, I asked my son what happened. He said his nose was bleeding during his nap.

Once there, I asked my son what happened. He said his nose was bleeding during nap time (they always complained that he was not sleeping at that time, even though I told them at enrollment that I had not slept in almost 3 years) and asked for help. They not only refused to help him, They scolded him for talking / being up and sent him to lie down. He cried at this, and they continued to scold him for crying, and even more so when his crying woke up other children. I asked my sister-in-law to stay with the children and went back inside. I woke up the rest of the children by telling the two "ladies" in charge a part of my mind. I told them flatly that I was not going to pay them another red penny (although technically I owed them 4 days of "attention") and that they would be lucky if I did not report them to the state. Instead, I settled for telling a co-worker at the time that she had her 6 children there. He took his children out the next day and spoke to the other parents as well, leaving the "ladies" with only 2 clients. They closed less than a week later.

When my son was little I tried a regular daycare. They ignored it. Caught them ignoring him crying. Nobody paid much attention to him. So I took him out of there and took him to a home nursery. I looked for a good one. I interviewed a lady who had a basement where she kept her children. Okay, that's fine, but when my son leaned over and pulled 1/2 piece of the toughest, greenest bread out from under a cabinet, I said No way! I finally found an old lady. He had about 6 to 7 other children. Somewhere after school. Probably 4 children my son's age. Penalty fee. He will have so

The old woman had a daughter a little older than me who helped her sometimes. In any case, the old woman meets me at the door and says that one of the other kids bit Brad that day. I approached him and he had 4 bites on his body. Back, front, face. When I turned to ask how it had happened. 4 bites? His daughter grabs my wrists, like I'm going to fight her! I kicked him in the legs to get him loose. She started yelling at me. His mom did too! I grabbed my son and got out of there. I couldn't believe that happened. Was young. I was a new mom. I should have complained about her. I didn't know who to complain to. The police cannot arrest a child because they cannot control his temper. She was a horrible, horrible woman. Her grandson lived with her because that daughter of hers had a husband who did not like the child. Rare! All of them!!! I kicked him in the legs to get him loose. She started yelling at me. In fact, I was taking care of my neighbors two children (temporarily). I was her babysitter until she could find one ..

What happened was that she was going to move, to live with her boyfriend .. She had NOT paid me at all, she always made excuses ..

He came over and said, "I'm moving," and locked both of his children's tricycles in the garage ... (😂He had them locked in the garage) why? Firstly to keep the TWO tricycles safe, secondly, she hadn't paid me ... I said I'll give you the tricycles when you pay me ...

I said, you just don't use people, don't do that to people ... I've been watching

I said, you just don't use people, don't do that to people ... I've been babysitting your kids, babysitting your kids, I fed them ... I leave the tricycles in the garage so someone wouldn't accept them .

I also got up at night and went to your house to see how your children were, since you always left them without a babysitter to go to a party with your boyfriend ... And sure enough, I saw once more that your car was gone and I He knew his children were alone! 😑 you had left your children alone again, it was dark, the heating was not on and they were cold ... I said, you are an irresponsible bitch and you think that everyone owes you ...

Pay me and get your tricycles back.

We must never allow people to use us and disrespect us.

She paid me ... I didn't want her stupid tricycles but I wasn't going to let her get away WITHOUT paying me ...

We had a nanny who came from a poor family. My wife noticed some earrings were missing a few days after the babysitter had last worked for us, but even though we had our suspicions, we couldn't be sure.

Once or twice after that, he noticed a gem was missing that night after we paid him and brought it home. The next day I spoke to his parents. Her father was extremely upset and confronted her, after which she confessed. The next day he brought her to our house. He apologized, brought the missing items, and gave us a large wad of cash that represented what we had paid him.

Her father was extremely upset and confronted her, after which she confessed. The next day he brought her to our house. He apologized, brought the missing items, and gave us a large wad of cash that represented what we had paid him the last few times he sat down for our children. We refused to accept the cash because, apart from the sticky fingers, she had been an excellent babysitter, but her father insisted. I think we promised to let her return some of the money. So I guess that counts as not getting paid.

I felt very sorry for the father, who was a rather surly manual worker who clearly felt that his daughter had embarrassed his family in front of the "teacher", as he kept calling me. He was crying as was the daughter. Before they left, I asked to speak to him alone and praised him for “doing the right thing” and setting a good example, but I also pleaded with him not to be too harsh on his daughter. I urged him to consider that his shame was probably punishment enough, and I felt it was due to his behavior. Frankly, he was worried that he might physically harm her. I wanted to use the girl again to babysit, but my wife felt it would be uncomfortable. I saw her a few months later working in a store, but she turned around when she saw me.

About 4 1/2 years ago I had to go to a work meeting and needed a babysitter for my 12 year old daughter. He was lost because he had never had to hire a babysitter before. So, I called a friend and asked who she used as a babysitter. She told me, I called her and I checked her references and she got brilliant references from everyone I called.

Well, I got home to find my babysitter, another girl, and a boy kissing on the couch. Needless to say, I took her home, told her parents what I had seen, and then called all of their references and let them know what she had gotten into. She lost her babysitting business because she couldn't control herself.

We also warned the grandmother and her daughter about him. When we returned from our trip, we noticed that Grandma's own daughter was missing her eye.

She said they were lost in the lake. I asked him: "Did you go out on the catamaran with the girls' cousin?" She said yes, We capsized and I was thrown into a guide wire and my glasses fell into the lake. So I asked my girls if they had dated. They said, "No, we obeyed you, but Grandma said, go ahead, what your parents don't know won't hurt them." I confirmed with the girl's cousin (and her mother) that our girls did not go sailing. That was the last time Grandma was alone with our children.

He wasn't sure what he'd been up to to fall over and do that to himself, but the babysitter didn't know either. Gone and not paid.

The children went to kindergarten after this experience.

My wife and I went out together for an unusual night and left our 3-year-old son in the care of a 13 to 14-year-old girl who was the daughter of a friend from my wife's work. When we got home, we discovered that they had gotten into the flour, which was all over the kitchen floor, and the young woman found my wife's makeup drawer. He tried the different cosmetics in the drawer. Needless to say, we weren't very happy when we got home. We explained to my wife's friend why her daughter was not being paid that night and she was surprised that she was so irresponsible and understood our position.
